A story about "Schubert: Symphony No 9; Wagner / Solti, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra" — 4 years ago
Apparently there’s a controversial repeat in the last movement of the Schubert that really irked David Hurwitz, but it sounds fine to me.

I love Murakami’s novels but his characteristic lack of plot leads to utterly uninspiring short stories.
Farking amazing. I thought Reiner’s and Boehm’s Strauss were good, but Kempe just blows them away. Credit to the Dresden Staatskapelle as well for these magnificent performances.
Nowhere near the delightfulness of Alex Klein’s performance of the Sinfonia Concertante with the CSO that I had the luck to enjoy live.
Listening to Rach 2 and Tchaik 1 from another box set (of Rach’s symphonic works). Jansons is a master of manipulating emotions in these tragic Russian works.
Brilliant. Great techinique and emotion from the Wiener Philharmoniker.
Vastly underrated author. B. S. Johnson is a comic genius.
Forget Bernstein and the Wiener Philharmoniker. With the best brass section in the world, the CSO is unbeatable in this symphony.
