Extravagant indeed. Pure ear candy. Not exactly eye candy though, due to the visually obnoxious playing style of Lang Lang. For some reason the camera keeps panning onto him. Far more aesthetically bearable is the outward stoicism of Pletnev (who is perhaps the only reason why I bought this DVD), Levine and Scheja. And I could not help noticing that Lang Lang tends to throw his head to the right towards Kissin, or perhaps it’s a habit from throwing his head in solo recitals to show the audience his facial contortions.
