WORTH CONSUMING!

It was okay. Had some good makeup effects. I will say that Eli Roth has really improved since the inexcusable Cabin Fever. Besides, I really can’t hate too much on a movie that has a Takashi Miike cameo.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

If it had ended 15 minutes earlier it would have been much better. Instead they tried to have a twist that has been done so many times before and much better too. The ending gave it lame plotholes as well.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’d been looking for this movie for a long time. I couldn’t find it to purchase or to rent. I had pretty much given up on it. I was channel surfing the other day and guess what was going to play on Imaginasian? What luck that I saw it was going to be on. So, yes I did watch it on cable teevee. I didn’t notice any super obvious edits, so I don’t think they cut much out of it. It’s possible though. I think they got around the bad language with changing the subtitles. For example when one of the characters clearly said, “Oh Shit!” they just didn’t put any subtitles on at all.

Anyhow, I did enjoy it. It was such a fun little movie. I totally recommend it.

A review of "Three Extremes" — 3 years ago

I was very disappointed in Three…Extremes. I’m a fan of Park Chan Wook and a huge Takashi Miike fan so maybe I was just expecting too much.

Dumplings (Fruit Chan) was I think the best chapter. It was an interesting concept, but nothing amazing. Cut (Park Chan Wook) would have been better if it was a bit shorter. I got really bored halfway through. Sure they were being tortured and it was awful, but yawn! Box (Takashi Miike) was visually excellent. However the end was really anticlimactic for my tastes.

Overall I think it was just ok. I wouldn’t tell anybody to run out and see this, but if it’s readily available, sure give it a go.

How "Doom (Unrated Widescreen Edition)" changed my life — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’m a bit embarassed. I did indeed watch Doom again, and I liked it. there, I said it! I like Doom.

I still blame it on the Karl Urban hotness and the fps sequence.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was disappointed in the movie in a lot of ways, but it is still worth watching. One of the things that bothered me was the English. Not so much the fact that they were speaking English, but there were bits of it in Japanese. It made it make even less sense for them to be speaking English when you would hear the bits of Japanese. The short beginning in the crooked house is in Japanese, but then suddenly in the bigger city everyone speaks English? They would still throw in an arigato here and a konichiwa there to make it still sound sorta Japanese and it bugged me.

I was disappointed that the Geisha training sequence was reduced to mainly a montage. It was one of the most interesting parts of the book. A lot of the aspects of what Geisha is were still left a little unclear. I found myself having to explain a lot of things to the person I was watching with who was not as familiar with the subject matter.

After all that and some other nitpicks, I still think it is worth watching once. Michelle Yeoh and Gong Li are always nice to watch. It’s also a very pretty movie visually.

A review of "Eight Below" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Paul Walker isn’t a great actor and Jason Biggs is annoying, but that couldn’t ruin the movie. I loved Eight Below. It was heartbreaking, but still managed to make you feel good by the end of it. If you love dogs, this is really a movie to watch.
