Why I recommend "Fido" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Hilarious! So many little touches that were blink and you’ll miss em. Really funny. Totally recommend.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The Monster Squad finally was released on dvd. I remember when this movie came out on vhs my Dad made a copy of it for me. That summer it was the movie that all the kids on the block would watch over and over again. My copy eventually got so worn out (like vhs tapes do) that I had to throw it out. I was so excited to watch it again and found I still could talk along with most of the movie even though I hadn’t seen it in over 15 years! haha. It was that ingrained in my brain. So, if you liked this one as a kid, I definitely recommend picking it up on dvd.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I never read the book, so I wasn’t expecting the ending at all. It went off into an even weirder and more ridiculous ending than I could have ever imagined and I loved it for that! It embraced it’s inherent wackiness with such gusto that I had to giggle and found it quite enjoyable.

I feel that maybe if I hadn’t seen the original that I would have liked this better. The ending was a bit rushed and anticlimactic in comparison.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I Hadn’t seen it in a very long time. It was funny to me because I saw some things in the movie completely differently than I remembered. For example, I never realized what a deadbeat the Mom was. haha. When I was little I thought she was delightfully dingy, but now I see she barely realizes she has kids! I also didn’t remember Mary being quite so in love with herself. Even her carousel horse had it’s nose in the air. Also, was Bert a hobo? As a child I thought he was a charming jack of all trades, but now I found myself wondering if he was sleeping on a park bench with an empty stomach.

Still a very enjoyable movie after all this time.

It looked very pretty. The dancing was fun, but everything else about the movie was just meh. Passable, but not great. Acting wasn’t anything to write home about about the plot kind of dragged. Overall I think it was a good idea with poor execution.

WORTH CONSUMING!

A lot of people will dislike this movie, but I loved it. It was a very charming little thing. The various animation and silly effects were a lot of fun. I loved the little cardboard car and Golden Pony Boy, of course! O and the one second time machine! The main character was very likable, even when he did things that made you want to smack him.

I had a slight issue with the ending. I wasn’t quite sure if it was a happy ending or a sad ending. I don’t know, I did like the ambiguity of the ending, but it seemed a little abrupt. Maybe I just wasn’t ready for it to end.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I was so disappointed in this book. I usually enjoy Stephen King. I thought this was so boring! It was the first book of his I considered ditching halfway through. Even with books I don’t particularly like, I can usually get through with no problem. Getting to the end of Lisey’s Story was a bit torturous. The second half is much better than the first, but still pretty boring and uneventful. I wasn’t able to connect with any of the unrealistic and unlikable characters. Not usually a problem I have with Stephen King’s novels.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Many flaws, mainly character development, but definately worth consuming once. Just for the set design if nothing else.

WORTH CONSUMING!

When it first started I wasn’t sure I liked the way it was filmed. It was kind of choppy and had a very documentary feel to it. By the end it made sense why it was done this way. It really made the last act even more realistic and sad. The last 30 minutes or so were actually a bit difficult to watch. Bjork was surprisingly very, very good.

So, while I do recommend this movie be warned. I had no idea it was going to be a ‘cry during the last 20 minutes’ type of movie!
