Starting with The Hobbit, I read through the entire series and enjoyed the storytelling. They do, however, are tedious after a while until after reading through the songs which are SEEMINGLY irrelevant (unless you want to be COMPLETELY immersed in the world of Tolkien so deep you’ll never find your way back out). They are wonderful stories, though, and are recommended.
