An interesting, somewhat gloomy adaptation of the first act of John Irving’s A WIdow For One Year. On the special features there is also an interview with John Irving that I watched because I love him and want to have 1,000 of his babies. I would recommend this film although I freely admit a lot of the reason I like it is that Jeff Bridges reminds me of THe Big Lebowski, which in turn makes me happy and makes me think I like things which I may not in fact like.

The third in the series. I really enjoyed the second one even though it was a sequel and apparently there is a movie now, although I’m pretty sure no one will go see it with me.

This is one of my favourite books by one of my favourite writers.

I can’t think of anyone whose writing has been more relevant in the way I think about my own life than Douglas Coupland. Plus he designs novelty furniture!

Although so far the story doesn’t interest me much, I love Zadie Smith’s fresh, interesting writing.

I’m giving up! I got to about page 200 but I just don’t care what happens to these people.

I’m going to finish it this time. I’m enjoying the way the book integrates all this interesting information— I can learn without even having to concentrate on it— but what I still find most interesting about the book is its relationship to ADAPTATION. Maybe because I am shallow.

Like a lot of other people I guess, I was inspired by Adaptation to read this book… I’ve only read the first twenty pages but I’m enjoying it so far.

I’m a big fan of Pamie’s from years ago, so I was thrilled to hear she’d written a novel. I’m enjoying the humour of her writing and the way she discusses issues related to online journalling is uncannily relevant at times. I would definitely recommend this.

I’m getting a head start on my Children’s Lit class novels with this one. I was a big Lloyd Alexander fan as a kid although I didn’t read this series. I’m enjoying it, I guess, although starting in the middle of the series does muddle things a bit.

I’m totally enjoying this book of interviews I ordered from Amazon on a whim. I’m not sure whether I’d agree that all the people interviewed are really entertainment “outsiders,” but any book that contains interviews with Joss Whedon, Tom Waits, Aimee Mann, AND Joan Jett has to be good, and so it is.
