This was the first Vonnegut novel I read. I was very young, around 14 or 15. It definitely went over my head at the time. After having read a lot of his stuff now, about 10 years later, I appreciate it more. It’s a good book, but definitely one of his lesser works and not one to start with

There are far better bottles of wine to get for around $10. Last year was a very decent wine for the price, but this year is acidic and sour. Not recommended.

We have these pens at work. They really suck. They cost like 1 cent less than Bic pens, but are at least ten times crappier.

“The Pattern on the Stone” is a very readable introduction to the ideas behind computers. You don’t need to understand complex math to enjoy this book. Hillis writes simply and clearly about the fundamental concepts of computing, mixing in history and details of his own life in a short, simple, fun learning experience.

Crazy jazz-influenced IDM goodness. I’d listened to a lot of IDM and some of Squarepusher’s stuff before, but I never got that into Squarepusher until I heard this album. Jazzy drums and upright bass gone beautifully haywire.

This is basically a single, but all three songs are fantastic, and it’s the only place I know of to find Nannou, which is one of my favorite songs.

Not my favorite album, but it’s good. It’s the last of his pre-jungle, Richard D. James/Drukqs-style stuff. Definitely not the first thing you should listen to if you’ve never heard Aphex before, but there’s lots of interesting, melodic songs on here that you won’t hear elsewhere.

One of my favorite Plaid albums. Generally bright, but also chill. More live instruments and more cheerfully playful than their other albums. ‘Headspin’ is one of my favorite tracks. Bjork sings on the fantastic ‘Lilith.’
