A story about "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time" — 5 years ago

Despite being a quick read, I was rapidly drawn into the world of Christopher Boone, a fifteen year old autistic boy. When I finished reading the book I felt as though I were leaving him behind.

Thoroughly enjoyable, and a novel way of writing.

A story about "The God of Small Things" — 5 years ago

Absolutely wonderfully written, beautiful. She creates a very distinctive style in the writing.

A story about "Artificial Intelligence: The Very Idea" — 5 years ago

I was reading this for a module on my AI degree.

Haugeland gives a good account of the history of AI, and does well to put things into perspective, giving a good illustration of the relative successes of AI.

It would have been nice to see some connectionism in there though.

A story about "Artificial Intelligence: A Philosophical Introduction" — 5 years ago

I really rate Copeland as a guide to AI. He adds insight, and makes for a very interesting read.

A story about "The Motorcycle Diaries : A Latin American Journey" — 5 years ago

After being captivated by the beauty (and desperation) of South America in the film, I thought I’d give the book a go.

Absolutely fantastic. Mad, but fantastic.

A fascinating insight into the life of a geisha, and well written too.

A story about "Stupid White Men ...and Other Sorry Excuses for the State of the Nation!" — 4 years ago

Whilst not being a fan of Moore’s writing, he does uncover, and document, a lot of rather nasty things about the ol’ U. S. of A.

I would say that he provides the complete anti-thesis of the whole Bush campaign; not offering a well rounded debate, but rather the opposing side. You can’t take what he says as gospel but certainly allows you to produce a more ‘well-rounded’ opinion after listening to the state propaganda.
