A story about "The Boy in Blue"

The Boy in Blue

by Charles Jarrott

I was an extra in this. I’m not bragging, but it’s the only “real” movie I have been in. I was 8 and the movie was filmed nearby in Gravenhust On. And before I impress you all too much, no I did not meet “the Cage” but I got to dress up in period costume and to see a movie in progress was kind of neat for a boy of my age. This movie is so obscure I doubt anyone will even read this…

A review of "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (Single-Disc Edition)" (rated 1 star)

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (Single-Disc Edition)

A friend dared me to watch this…

Awful, awful, awful….

Even if you’re like me and grew uo on this stuff… How can an 80’s cartoon trump a big budget blockbuster???

I call bullshit and the money spent on the ridiculous special effects could have been spent saving starving children.

A story about "Brokeback Mountain (Widescreen Edition)"

Brokeback Mountain (Widescreen Edition)

by Ang Lee

This is the point. If this was not a “gay” movie, if for some reason the two leads were some hetero couple in some “forbidden love” scenario with the rest of the movie the same, most would not like this. In fact, since the only reason most people saw this and “liked” this film was due to the fact that it showed two guys getting it on in such a real and graphic way and by doing so was being “brave”... guess what, exploitation flick. There is much better cinema out there that addresses homosexuality than this. And though well shot, pretty pictures does not make a good movie.

A story about "Dickson Experimental Sound Film (1894 Short)"

Dickson Experimental Sound Film (1894 Short)

by William K.L. Dickson

How can this be “Not Worth Consuming” when it’s 20 seconds long? And why would you be watching it in the first place if you weren’t interested in film history. You bitter internet critics confuse me….

A story about "Watchmen [Theatrical Release]"

Watchmen [Theatrical Release]

by Zack Snyder

I think this movie is getting a bad rep out there. I’ve been a fan of the comic for the last 15 years or so, and tried desperately to view this movie with an open mind. Many nitpick it and compare it to the graphic novel which is unfair to say the least. It took a lot of balls to attempt this and the results were far better than I was expecting. Though far from perfect, this ambitious film has set a milestone for all action movies to follow. The love for the source material shines through. The attention to set detail and design is amazing, and though I had a few issues with the casting they got two things dead on. Rorschach by Jackie Earle Haley was dead on. They casted probably one of the hardest characters in all of comics, and cheers to that. Also Jeffrey Dean Morgan was well done as the Comedian, hard to cast to say the least.

I won't focus on the negative, there are some problems... but they were all pushed aside by the two friends I saw it with who knew nothing about the comic. And they both loved it. So what does this comic nerd know.

A story about "Six Feet Under - The Complete Series Gift Set"

Six Feet Under - The Complete Series Gift Set

by Kathy Bates

I really enjoyed this series way back. Part way through I thought that the show had slipped the rails a bit and decided to take a break for a bit. Life as it is I never got around to watching any more. Years passed and I met my wife which for her, this is her favorite show of all time. She told me that I should watch it all and then form an opinion. For Christmas I bought her this set and for a week we sat down watched the whole series (it was Christmas vacation so we had the time) and I got what she was talking about. One of the best written (and smartest) series ever on television.
