A story about "True Fans: A Basketball Odyssey" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A book about three basketball fans who set off on a cross-country journey by bicycle to see the U.S. and end up at the Basketball Hall of Fame. Although the writing was at times a bit overdone IMHO, it was a fun and inspiring read.

Why I recommend "Canon EOS 20D digital camera" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I love this camera! Digital changed the way I take photos. I really liked my Canon 10D, but this one is much faster with better auto-focus and less noise at higher ISO speeds.

The only problem is that I take too many photos now.

Could have been much better — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was an OK movie. While it was often funny, I wasn’t that intrigued by the story line or characters. None of the actors, with the possible exception of Kathy Bates in a cameo role, really impressed me. The plot had a lot of promise, but its development just wasn’t there.

In retrospect, I’d save the money on tickets and wait for it to come out on DVD or pay-per-view.

A review of "Just Friends" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Chris and Jamie were best friends in high school, but Chris wanted their relationship to be more. Unfortunately, Chris was overweight and Jamie just wanted to be friends. He escapes to L.A., where he loses the weight and becomes a high-profile manager in the recording industry. While accompanying his latest client, he gets stuck in his old hometown for the first time in 10 years, and of course, he runs into Jamie.
Funny but silly slapstick humor keeps this predictable movie going.

A review of "Night Fall" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Not much of a review, but I really enjoyed this book. I’ve read a number of DeMille’s books, and although his formula was wearing thin on me by the last book of his I read (Spencerville) and this one follows the same formula, I think it’s his best book yet.
A real page-turner, I found this one hard to put down.

A story about "Local Rules" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A former prosecutor is stopped for speeding in a small town in Texas. The local judge asks him to serve as court-appointed attorney for a local teenager. The attorney learns too late his client is accused of attemped murder, and defending him as an outsider won’t be easy.

A story about "Quantum Leap - The Complete First Season" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I thought this was a fairly expensive set considering it is just the pilot and seven regular season episodes. There are brief introductions before each episode with comments by Scott Bakula, and there is also a short featurette about the series. The DVD holder has a slot for a booklet, but there isn’t one.
While I was disappointed with the DVD extras and the price, it was (as another reviewer said) a good intro to the series, and it was interesting to see how it evolves (for example, Sam doesn’t start to regularly say “oh boy” when he first leaps until the last couple of episodes).

WORTH CONSUMING!

But an enjoyable movie. Great acting, especially by the two female leads.

A story about "Lifeguard" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

James Patterson is pumping his books out too fast these days, and the plot lines are getting more and more ridiculous. They’re still for the most part fun and fast reads, but there are too many implausible plot lines and one-dimensional characters for my taste.

A story about "iTrip" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Never got it to work with the stereo in my rental car, but tried it in my husband’s SUV today and it worked pretty well. At one point when we were close to power lines there was a lot of static, but otherwise it sounded about like FM radio. Hubby was really impressed and now wants his own iPod, too.
