A story about "The Maltese Falcon" — 5 years ago
Well, I read it riding back and forth to work on the subway. It was a paperback edition from the eighties. I caught several folks reading the cover and nodding in approval when they discovered what I was reading. Boys especially. I laughed aloud several times, delighted by the language and oddly methodical descriptions of gazes and physical action. The first third was fun, the middle third was dull, the last third was all taut intrigue and double crosses. Couldn’t keep images of Bogey out of my head.
