This was awful. I read Monday Mourning and was disappointed but I gave Kathy Reichs one more shot because I like the television show her work is “based on” (yeah, it’s not), but I shouldn’t have wasted my time. The writing is bad, the plot is stupid, the characters are frustratingly one-dimensional and stupid. I like it when the characters are more intelligent than I am; I don’t like feeling like screaming at the book because they are missing the obvious. The book is quick to read with an easy style, but you will still be bored. If you thought this was good, do what I did and pick up any random book afterward; it will seem AWESOME by comparison (I picked up a Jonathan Kellerman by random which is probably only average but seems wonderful after plodding through Reich’s work).
The only thing “Bones” and these books have in common is the fact that the main character’s name is Temperance Brennan and she’s a forensic anthropologist. It’s not the same character at all. Just the name. Well, and sex organs, I guess.
