This looks like a book that will have a profound effect on my economic views. Already, just into the first chapter I find myself thinking and writing about it quite a bit.

I’ve wanted to read this book for a long time, a bookshop find. Such elegant writing… insightful, poetic and charged with energy… a book with character, spirit and strength. Everything a person could want from a book.

Read a good bit of this book over ten years ago. Found a 50-cent paperback copy, bought it, and then found the first-edition hardcover for a dollar at the library bookstore. It’s a modern fairytale set in old New York. Intense, descriptive… it will transport you.
