This is a short story pretending to be a full novel (maybe because of a publisher’s narrow eye). After 70 pages it’s better 4 u to put the book down.

It's the arrogance that upsets (rated 2 stars)

Munich (Widescreen Edition)

by Steven Spielberg

Readers, please check out my location right beneath my photo. Even though I wasn’t born yet in 1977, I know enough about the massacre in Munich to say “Spielberg, shame on you”.
Maybe this is the main problem of the film- Spielberg is so confident(as u can see in the introduction of the dvd) in himself and in the pretension of his creations (Schiendler’s List, for instance) that he forgets one important thing- You can’t write in fairness about something completely subjective to you. Spielberg doesn’t understand the complexity of the israeli- arabian conflict, because he is an american. All he knows is what he can tell by the media. So, because Spielberg cannot tell what it is like for an israeli (Avner, completely unrealiable character) to live in fear of terror every single day- which by the way, can psychologically explain why he didn’t intereview the wives of the victims nor the ex- heads of the israeli Mossad, and caused so much anger- or, else, the hypocritical identification of international terror organizations with the unbearable distress of the Palestinians in Gaza. Spielberg is very far from it, so cannot emotinally identify with the situation he describes.
As a result, the movie is full of scences with no action. All that happens is endless dialogues between characters that explain their positions and try to make us understand. Tony Kushner and Erich Roth (Screenplay) cannot do the work of an excellent script writer and transform messages by story. They don’t feel probaly suitable for judging in the favour of one or two sides. Those who actually bother to watch this problematic feature, would easily notice that and leave the remote dissapointed.

Anyway I can’t really judge this, because I turned off the dvd after the first hour, and couldn’t get exactly what was the logic of this movie.

Not Brilliant, But Pleasant (rated 3 stars)

Assassin's Apprentice (The Farseer Trilogy, Book 1)

by Robin Hobb

First of all, this book is pretty interesting, because its capturing world and good characters. I would absolutely recommend this book to all those beginners who read fantasy. Still, it could have been so much better. Even though you are fascinated by reading it, you feel that somehow this book is a bit too long for you, and that the writer failed to do something.

It has a reason. Hobb does her best to juggle in the conventions of the apprentice story in fantasy. This book contains the lonely youngster, the father- character, the friend that dies, the jealous enemy, the pretty unreachable girl and of course the militant background. But, Hobb fails to use her limits to create something new and brilliant, as it is in Ender’s Game, A Song of Ice and Fire, Warchild or even Harry Potter. Actually, instead of having a complete and concise strocture to build the story, the plot is all mixed up. Fitz is always being transformed from one thing to another, most of the time so that we cannot understand why and how ta hell, till even he cannot figure out who he is.

This mess hurts not only the story but, shame, the characters. When we cannot understand what happens to Fitz, we stop understand and identify with him either. Eventually we can’t show interest in his choices. Same with the other characters. A lot of siquences could have been easily deleted from the plot, that simply has too many people in it. Sometimes, when a character is in the scence, you have to go a few pages backward to tell who it is exactly. The result is that even the writer gets confused, as we can see very well in the end, a really lame and misunderstood one.

Blood, blood, but there is none (rated 2 stars)

Kill Bill, Volume 2

Let’s begin by the end: Kill Bill 2 is one hell of a disappointment. Its spectecular style of fighting was sacrafised to satisfy those conservative viewers who usually don’t watch anyway movies like this.

I personally liked the 1st movie. Though its extreme violence, it was a unic action movie that in some point also had some unforgatable moments.
So, that is the first mistake- the 2nd movie ISN’T AN ACTION MOVIE. It is a drama with one or two fighting moments. In the rest of the movie, a whole lot of minutes, QT bullshits us with long and endless conversations between the characters, a-la the two sequels of the Matrix. The audience who liked the 1st movie, craves for blood showers, gets very bored by the unecessary dialogues and expected philosophy. It is well seen specially the scence in the end, that is extremely disappointing for an action movie (guess what it doesn’t have) and has a very annoying conservative message.

Another style that remained with the 1st KB was its pounding way of telling the story and about the characters: Fightings, irregular music, animation. This movie has none. The story is told the old way, except that Black Momba kills only one person in this movie, and it is being done so fast, that the crowd cannot even notice what is happening.

Maybe the problem is that thestory is told backwards. In the first movie Qt had only flasbacks of the hero waking up and afterwards revenges with anger. The crowd somehow understands the character and feels identification with her. In this movie Qt chose to tell us the personal story even though the crowd already likes the characters! It’s silly, not a worthy sequel as we expected it. In fact, the 2nd is a Bad movie. Some parts are so misunderstood, so full of cliches and stupid acts, you cannot wonder whether Qt actually despises his fans. It was a very strange scence in the middle, when Budd invites Elle into his house to sell her the sword. Considering the fact that he’s an ex- assacin, we cannot raise an eyebrow and ask ourselves whether he is really that idiot to fall into that trap, known in too many movies. Oh, and don’t forget that snake that for some reason won’t bite Elle, and the bride’s amazing ability to breathe freely six feet under and climb then the roots in the ground as it was a scence from Harry Potter 3.

How can it be one of the 250 top movies voted? no idea, but thank Qt for spoiling two hours of my life. See you in the next metamorphosis.

But no, this book wasn’t as bad as Black Box and The intimate Book of Grammar, and it still was one of the worst novels I’ve ever read. Why?
1. no CHARACTERS
the girl- she’s just a nice girl who cooks all day long and do even more stupid things that what other 17 year old boring girls do in drama tv shows of the afternoon.
the boy- no one! how can this be possible?! this boy has no family known (his father disappears mysteriously after the marriage), no hobbies or characteristics. His only part in the story is to love Tita and act like a total jerk (to my opinion…) trying to impress her (wow! she’s beautiful! now we’re going to have sex or what?).
everyone else- streotypes all together… boring, unfunny, not very emotionally comlicated. Bla.

2. Scences
He loves her from a first sight (wow! amazing!).He tells her he has a huge crash on her in the kitchen. It wasn’t ment to be so, but i couldn’t help myself laughing out loud. It gets even worse- the boy’s family has nothing to say. Only the mother wants the daughter to take care of her- hello!! ever heard of running away?!
One of the most sadistic and still funny scences is when the middle daughter showers, and the shower is on fire. She has to run through the field for some reason, and then a horny General notices her, pulls her to his horse and… u know, fucks her…. on the horse. The hero and her boy look beyond the window at this terrible act (the girl is 15) and want some of it too. Then the couple escapes and the General still leaves her to work as a prostitude. She loves him, and when he returns he makes her a general too. Huh? just wait.

3. Plot
u find better, more intersting plots in original mexican shows for house wives. The story also ends by deus ex machina, a terribly funny one (it supposes to be extremely sad). I thank god it was over.

Shit, now our teacher is gonna force me watching the movie.

Still, racism is always in the air and I wanted to watch this to know how americans see it. What I found was a mixed up siquence of stories that some of them are connected to each other, and tries to say something about the way we spread racism by ourselves just like society makes it an ordinary matter. Not all the stories were interesting (the spanish and the niger, the mexican family and the black tv director), not all of them were developed enough to become really good (the rich woman, the racist policeman and his partner) and one of them actually filled something of the potential (the two thiefs). In the end there isn’t much new in this picture, everyone talks about racism and in the end everyone hugs each other.

Besides, jews, hello!!! How can u discuss racism without mentioning my always- haunted people?

Not Bad for A First Script (rated 3 stars)

Red Eye (Full Screen Edition)

And we are talking about a Tv writer who sold his soul for Xena and Animorphs…

For a psychological thriller. the movie was a disappointment. The hero (Lisa) may have a life, but she doesn’t have a character. She’s too much like many other girls i’ve met in my very short life. Because of that, nothing in her way of thinking (like it’s supposed to be in this genre) changes and therefore nothing in this movie matters as well. Still, some of the choices in the script are very good. For example, locating most of the plot in a plane, connecting the killer and the victim in the airport (brilliant!) and of course the choice to fill the plane with funny characters who can’t tell what’s going on. The writer could even make the movie better if we could see that mysterious- smart- psycho Jack had some conflict in hunting Lisa… but that doesn’t happen. Shame. because then the script could have been so much better.
On the other hand the directing is too dramatic. In those thrillers we use the silence before the screams. Although you have suspencion all along the movie, there is always some storm before something happens. The music is also too dramatic, and sometimes, like in the end of themovie, the shot is too small and doesn’t use the irony accepted in this case.

a writer, a director. such a story asks these.

Why I recommend "Push: A Novel"

Push: A Novel

by Sapphire

This book isn’t too good for itself.sometimes it gets too emotional, and the reader might feel uncomfortable. Anyway, the book is written spectacularly, fascenating and important story about a poor helpless black girl in an evil place trying to hold herself and her pretty baby from her terrifying childhood.

Although the character is charming and reliable, sometimes the story itself isn’t. It is too horrible to be true. You can be shocked when the father raves his wife and his 7 year old daughter at the same night. You feel sorry when also the mother abuses her child and attacks her for “taking” her man. But when Precious has her second baby, she runs away and suddenely we also find out her father died, and he was never married to her mother but to another woman (+2 kids) and he had hiv- you begin to feel that: hey, even in Harlem you can’t find so mentally illed people! enough is enough! what about the story?! it is too perfect!
correct is correct. No difficulties accour to the hero in the alternative school. All of a sudden she is so happy… you feel like the whole story is shouting: Go to this school! go! But hey, if all girls there were abused in the past, what would it tell about my kid?!

So, who is recommended to read this:
1. Teachers (I would very like someone like Miss. Rain to teach me)/
2. Those who attend to drop school- to know that you still got a chance… even if you have 2 kids in the age of 16.

Lost in Translation

by Sofia Coppola

This story is about two lonely married strangers finding different familiar friendship in each other. Their characters are quite oppusite and good, but the plot is not complicated enough. In this case you can just transform “nothing happens” into “it’s too much like life”...
On the other hand rare movies, even independent, deal with global alienation. If u are man of the world, and one day found yourself alone and only in a foreign country, you would like the movie and what it presents to you. On the other hand, if you like more “story” movies, and dislike sad people who do nothing with their lives, this movie might get u pretty bored.

Worst Movie I've Ever Seen (rated 1 star)

Date Movie (Unrated Edition)

by Aaron Seltzer

I’m a deadly viewer, but still none of the movies i’ve seen was that bad: no characters, plot, humor and even nice scences to remember when the movie ends. My friend forced me to watch this swearing it was one of her favourite films. Well, after about 20 minutes i was already replying her to stop the movie to clean her entire house, but she wouldn’t agree. After about an hour of boring, stupid and discusting racial jokes i was almost about to break the dvd, but im good at holding myself. Can’t believe actually wasted 1.5 hour to watch it, but thank god it was over. Don’t watch it, maybe even imdb would forget about the entire film.

Very deep, serious and emotinally complicated drama (rated 5 stars)

2nd worst book I've Ever Read (rated 1 star)

But the writer simply scrued everything up. You can’t understand anything from the plot, the chracters or the message. Everything is so mixed up, the senteces are so long and the memories are so asociative… in something like chapter 3 you just throw the book away, givin’ up, screaming : “what da FUCK??!!”

Didn’t know it was so bad till I aactually read it. It was a turture. Ilana, by the way, is the main turturer. It is one of the books in which nothing happens, notthing makes you feel wonder. You just get bored of all the endless descriptions of feelings and metaphores by the characters. This world is defenitely a better place without “black box”
