NOT WORTH CONSUMING

What a steaming pile of crap

. While I will grant that Dreamcatcher is one of the few Stephen King books I haven’t read - and that, generally speaking, his books don’t often translate to film - this one was definitely worst than most. It was full of recycled storylines, most of which were enjoyable the first time around but don’t make for very good leftovers.

And talk about a convoluted plotline. Half of what was going on didn’t make sense, and I kept expecting that it would all sort itself out in the end. This is a common problem with movies made from King’s books—there’s simply too much story to fit into a few hours of celluloid.

But this one never did sort itself out. I’m not even going to waste my time scratching my head over it, and instead am shaking my head, wondering how to get that 2 1/2 hours of my life back.

I’m not crazy about them. They taste like they came from underground.

WORTH CONSUMING!

My mom, my sister, and I have been watching this every year for several years, sort of a tradition we started and hope to continue. In fact, I just had them over last night to watch it with me.

I don’t know why I never thought to add it to allconsuming til now! It’s a great movie. I don’t feel like it’s really Christmas til I’ve watched it each year.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I can’t believe it took me 28 years to finally get around to watching it. I’d always heard about the charismatic Gene Kelly, but had never seen him in action til now. I’d be interested in seeing more of his works. And as for Debbie Reynolds—who knew there was a time when she not only wasn’t annoying, but was actually quite charming?

Bonus points to Donald O’Connor for reminding me very much of Danny Kaye.

if it weren’t for Will Ferrell, who is one of the most consistently unfunny, untalented “actors” I’ve ever had the misfortune of watching.

Potentially cute story ruined by lousy execution.

For one thing, it was boring. — 3 years ago

And I like documentaries. This one just didn’t really hold my interest. It was all ten minutes of cheesy flute music between bits of narration, and it was depressing as hell. That part is hardly the filmmaker’s fault, but man, must it suck to be a penguin. I was expecting something cute and uplifting from all the promos—I found it to be neither.

with the racial tensions and all… I guess that’s why they gave it four stars? Sidney Poitier gave, as ever, an excellent performance, but aside from that I found it pretty dull. I’d give it maybe two and a half stars myself.

but really, really not the best either. In fact, as far as I’m concerned the only thing that keeps me from categorizing it as Pure Crap is Dan Akroyd. Love that guy. The rest of it? Not so much. Ugh, what passes for comedy these days.
