Doesn't quite hit the five-star mark — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

but very well done, I thought. Beyonce Knowles annoys me on principle, but Eddie Murphy was hilarious and the amazing Jennifer Hudson would’ve been more than enough all on her own for me to enjoy it. Most people disagree with me, but I think her version of “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” blows Jennifer Holiday’s out of the water. She brought forth so much emotion throughout all her performances, and when that one came about I was in tears because she made you FEEL her pain.

In any case, I definitely recommend going to see this—in the theater, if you can.

Not that great a movie — 2 years ago

but it’s not entirely without merit. I do love watching movies about ballroom dancing, and while Richard Gere usually falls flat these days, he and Jennifer Lopez do dance well together. Pretty dull movie aside from that, though.

I thought this would be stupid — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

but it was actually very funny. It’s stupid in a mocking way, like it’s a takeoff on all those old Rock Hudson/Doris Day movies. The cheesy stupidity is all part of its charm, and it makes it one very entertaining movie. There were a few parts where I even laughed out loud.

Renee Zellweger is one of those actresses I didn’t care for at first, but as her career has progressed I’ve actually come to like her quite a bit. And Ewan McGregor is always a pleasure to see in action—he’s ridiculously charming and just very, very talented. I like that they had him sing a bit at the end here, since we got to see that he’s got a great singing voice thanks to Moulin Rouge. David Hyde Pierce is an added bonus.

Excellent movie, very enjoyable, enough so that I might just get it on dvd.

Why I recommend "Kashi Pumpkin Spice Flax Crunchy Granola Bars" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

These are so good! I’ve just tried them for the first time today and I love them. I’m a sucker for anything that reminds me of pumpkin pie.

I’ve been on Weight Watchers for almost a year now, so I try to work a lot of healthier choices into my diet—especially things high in fiber and vitamins. These bars have lots of all that good stuff in them, plus they’re delicious.

There are two bars in each little package, and each package works out to be about 3 Points, which is really good.

I’m glad I found these.

This is one of my favorite books of all time — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’ve read it no less than fifteen times and I never get tired of it. It’s a compelling story and is, as far as I’m concerned, Stephen King’s best book to date. For once his loquaciousness doesn’t get in its own way and instead serves to better illustrate the characters, setting, and interactions. I love it!

One of the worst movies I've ever seen in my LIFE — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Great cast but that’s not enough to save it. I know it’s supposed to be funny-stupid, but it ends up just being stupid-stupid. Awful, awful, awful movie.

Kimya Dawson/The Moldy Peaches seem to be pretty popular — 2 years ago

Very generic writing, but then again — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

it is fiction for young adults, so that makes sense.

All in all it’s a good story. It raises a lot of important questions about coming out to your family, your friends, and even yourself. I liked it especially because the relationship between Holland and Cece reminds me so much of the relationship I had with my own first girlfriend. Ah, first love! There’s nothing like it.

Equal parts lighthearted and painful.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Dreadfully boring. You keep waiting for the point, but it never shows itself. Go watch some paint dry—it’ll be a rousing good time in comparison to this.

One of the best movies I've ever seen — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Matthew McConaughey was fairly new on the scene and Sandra Bullock hadn’t done much either before this. McConaughey brings an earnest quality that’s perfect for the role. But what really stands out is the performance by Samuel L. Jackson.

What I love about this movie is that it’s not “Did he do it?” but “Was he justified?” Pay particular attention to Brigance’s closing argument—what a brilliant, evocative speech. You’ll know the one I’m talking about when it gets there.

I love courtroom dramas, and damn if I’m not on my feet, stamping and shouting at the screen every time I watch this movie. Very, very well done.
