WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s not the most brilliant songwriting ever, but the whole album has a mellow, happy vibe. Makes for good background music and is good for a summer day.

Yet another great big letdown — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

You’d think I’d learn after all this time not to expect much from the “classics”, because they’re rarely as good as all the hoopla surrounding them.

With West Side Story, if they’d up the fake, plasticky cheese factor any more they’d have had to call it Velveeta instead. They kept doing weird things with the lighting that made me wonder if I was on an acid trip, and you’d think they’d have chosen actors who could actually sing worth a damn.

A better title for this film — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

would have been “Various People Walking Down Long Hallways Accompanied by Creepy Piano Music”. It was impossibly slow moving, and while usually I can appreciate the overlapping-stories plot device, it’s done sloppily here. Sometimes it’s hard to know where what’s at on the timeline.

Boring and shoddily put-together.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’m marking this “worth consuming” mainly because of Jeremy Renner’s charismatic-yet-creepy performance. Other than that, it wasn’t that good. I mean, it was filmed well and all, but it’s kind of misleading since it’s not really about the murders so much as it’s “Hey, that Jeffrey seems like a nice enough guy, but he seems a little dark sometimes”. It also jumps back and forth between the Then and the “Now” quite a bit, and the transitions aren’t always well delineated, so sometimes you can’t figure where on the timeline the current scene falls.

Still… good performance, so it wasn’t a total waste.

A very expensive letdown — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Epic, but not very interesting—which is astounding, considering that Greek mythology is pretty much always interesting. But not here.

I’m still scratching my head over why almost every character - all of whom are supposed to be Greek - has a British accent. And Eric Bana didn’t even try to disguise his Australian one. Who does he think he is, Russell Crowe in Gladiator???

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Great soundtrack, lame movie. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen so many of these graduation/last-high-school-hurrah movies, or maybe it’s just been so overhyped over the years that I’d expected it to be so much better than it actually was. Either way, it was kind of a letdown.

A story about "A Cinderella Story (Full Screen Edition)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Predictable and not very creative, but lighthearted and cute. Sometimes that’s enough for me.

Why I gave up consuming "Of Human Bondage" — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I give up! Two weeks after taking this book out of the library I’d just barely managed to get through the first half. All I kept thinking was “Ughhh, get to the point already!” Seriously. The paragraphs were way too wordy and yet the story never seemed to go anywhere. Not to mention the fact that the main character, Philip, is a snobby, whiny little bastard. He’s infinitely unlikeable, and I grew tired of reading about him.

Life is too short to finish boring books.

Ehhhh... I'm not impressed — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I like Mark Ruffalo less and less with every movie I see him in. He’s too deliberately intense, and it serves to actually make him seem less so—and his character, Coles, is just whiny and annoying and purely self-serving. As for the other actors and actresses in this movie, I found their performances mediocre at best. The only exception was Kathleen Robertson, who I never could stand when she was on Beverly Hills, 90210 but who as actually turned out to be a not-half-bad actress after all.

Still, as far as I’m concerned this film has no saving grace. It was dull and put together sloppily, almost as if the filmmaker was in a hurry. Left a lot to be desired.

Considering the generally hilarious cast — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

this sure did fall flat. Pure crap.

Also, I could swear I noticed John Candy as one of the guards at the studio in the beginning, but I can’t find him in the cast list either through Amazon or at IMDB. Can anyone confirm for me?
