WORTH CONSUMING!

MUCH better than the first movie, which was okay but not that exciting due to way too much backstory and not enough plot. I actually found myself enjoying this one, which is amazing since I’ve spent the past several years resenting Harry Potter and all the hype surrounding it. And having enjoyed this one so much, I’ve just gone out and rented the third and fourth movies.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Decent performance by Will Smith, the action sequences were exciting. That’s the good stuff. However, there were a lot of slow spots and the ending was disappointing. Not to mention that most of the “rage virus” stuff was a total rip-off of 28 Days Later. Still, it was entertaining.

I'm glad I tried again — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I had originally rented this movie a few years back, and at the time I got about midway through the first scene before I stopped it and returned it to the video store. It just seemed like it was trying to hard to be edgy and bizarre, and I lost interest right away.

I wish I’d given it more of a chance then, because upon having watched it in full tonight, I’ve discovered that it’s actually a really, really good movie. John Cameron Mitchell’s performance is great—equal parts feisty strength and plaintive sadness. Here is a person who’s always sat in the middle of two worlds and never fully fit into either, and you can feel Hedwig’s pain as each person she loves eventually betrays her in some way.

I thought it was really clever the way the songs told the parts of the story that weren’t shown, and the concept behind “The Origin of Love” is right on.

All in all, this is a very well-done movie. It’s too bad the always-amazing Michael Pitt was shamefully underused.

Not exactly Oscar material, but cute. Funnier than I’d anticipated.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

The way I’ve always heard people talk about this movie, you’d think it was the second coming.

It’s not. I understand why it’s supposed to be funny, but still I don’t find it to be. At all.

Better than I thought it'd be — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It certainly was engaging, given the subject matter. But then, I love a movie that shows that there are all kinds of love.

I Tivo’d this off the LOGO channel. I don’t know why I bother ever watching movies on LOGO—the sound quality sucks so much you can’t make out half of what anyone is saying and they don’t close caption anything. Not to mention that it cut this movie off at exactly the 2-hour mark so I have no idea how it ended.

You know what? It doesn’t matter. Because even two hours into it I still had no idea what it was even about. Frickin’ weird movie, and not in an especially interesting way.

Why I gave up consuming "Bitch: In Praise of Difficult Women" — 2 years ago

I give up!

The publisher’s description of this book is misleading. What you’re expecting is something a little more essayish, and instead what you get is some seriously theory-laden gobbledegook doublespeak tripe. Ms. Wurtzel is simply regurgitating old ideas and the whole thing has a very “boo-hoo” feel to it.

It’s not about difficult women at all. It’s about history’s PERCEPTION of what difficult means. Good luck finding anything substantial amidst all this fluff and fodder. As for me, I’m bored out of my skull with trying.

Laughably bad. Which would be okay if they’d done it on purpose, but… no. Seriously—Spielberg? You’d think he’d know better.
