A story about "Ecstasy (Extase)" — 15 hours ago
i really enjoyed the cinematography, and althought i was at first confused by the ending, i really like it. its very anti-climatic, poignant, appropriate. just a fantastic little love story.

while i think this served its purpose, even though its purpose didnt become evident until 30 minutes before the end, there were a lot of glaring omissions. for 1: bob dylan got married and had a few kids somewhere in the course of this time frame. that was a major part of his motivation to stop touring. it would have been easy to slide in this little fact, i mean his wife is on the cover of bringing it all back home.
maybe she didnt want to be included in the interviews, and thats fine. but still, put it in historical context.
joan baez comes off like an idiot, no surprise there.
i enjoyed all the other characters from that scene, i wasnt familiar with a lot of them. entertaining.
i thought the interview with the present bob dylan quite enlightening, especially the last clip they showed, with him insulting the man interviewing (didnt sound like scorcese).
also, i liked the fact that someone used the phrase “faster than gangbusters.”
maybe if i was a 11 year old girl i would have enjoyed this movie, but being an adult burly man, i just didnt get it. even if i was an 11 year old girl i think i would have just been confused most of the time. the plot was lame, what little there was, characters didnt make any sense, and everything that happened seemed to be centered around making this one random little girl happy and feel important. british accents seemed to abound but for no particular reason, in fact there was no reason attached to anything at all in this entire film, i guess that because theyre in a parallel universe where everyone’s a twat. its like someone said, ok, lets take some of that harry potter shit, good good, and mix in some dr doolittle, and wha-bam! sure fire success!
but the most frustrating thing about this movie is the end. as sam elliot and some sexy witch are flying around, the little girl plops down against the bear (which for some reason is still there) and proceeds to give us a rundown of what’s going to happen in the next movie. then ta-ta, the end, roll 10 minutes of credits.
im reminded of the first super mario brothers movie, and its cliffhanger ending, and then how it completely bombed at the box office and the assumed sequel was never made. well i sincerely hope history repeats itself.
meh. im talkin thorough meh. i dunno, i think this movie had great points, but in the end i just wasnt moved. i dont know why. there were some pacing issues, bad music choices, some dialogue problems, bad acting. i wouldnt not recommend this. but im not going to say its a waste of time.
that one song was good, the first one. the rest were really boring.
im marking this as consumed because i dont know when i’ll want to play it again. its fun, but..im starting to feel minigame fatigue by this point for the wii.
dang! i need to get this back from my brother. turd.
yes, i am still consuming this. havent played in..probably a year, but started again this weekend. god i love this game. i was surprised at how easy it was to pick up where i left off, but i got through the dungeon and got the second crystal, after a couple hours remembering what the hell i was supposed to be doing.
i had a friend who had this game when i was a kid, and i just loved going over to his house to play it. we had a sega, and the super nintendo just seemed..better overall.
i have no idea who to recommend this to. the songs are..alright, nothing spectacular, but passable. thats my problem with musicals in general, unless the songs are truly magnificent, then they’re just filling time, and a 30 min story drags out to 2 hours.
this is kind of what happened here, but because of the subject matter it made it more bearable. johnny depp seemed to get better as the film went along, but that reprise of pretty women at the end made me wince when it started. god that was awful.
all in all, it was thoroughly..ok. i can see why they wanted to make it, im sure it was fun for them, but for us, it certainly didnt do much to brighten up my evening.
