Certainly a book of its time... — 9 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

... Which means it’s HILARIOUS. Between the author’s description of Spock’s “Lucifer eyebrows”, to the aliens either being Native American, Catholics, or Nazis, it was just… AWESOME. Felt like very classic Trek, actually. A quick read, and I wound up enjoying it, despite the cliches.

Still your father's Star Trek, especially the best parts! — 24 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

As a long-time Trek fan (15+ years), I really didn’t go into this expecting much. What I got was a wonderful film with beautiful special effects, an exciting (and suspenseful) story, and faithful homages to the characters I dearly love. All of the actors were excellent, and I don’t think I could have asked for more from Pine (Kirk) and Quinto (Spock), who wound up having incredible chemistry (although as a K/S shipper, not the kind I hoped ;) ).

While I’m sad that my favorite series is getting a reboot and not continuing from the storyline I’ve absorbed over the years, I look forward to the sequels and what else Abrams would like to reinterpret. In the meantime, I am going to go see this again and again until I can get it on DVD. :D

Facebook has the same social network, without the obnoxious side-effects.

WORTH CONSUMING!

A beautiful album with some jarring mood pieces. Captures the movie perfectly.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The story, the use of language, and the characters and setting were all enthralling. Every word was delicious, and I’ll be sure to re-read it in the future.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Seriously – was this written by the same author? I wasn’t expecting a masterpiece, but some coherency and believability would’ve been nice.

I enjoyed up to page 128, and then kept the mantra “Kill it, kill it, KILL IT” throughout the rest of the novel. Sigh. Seamonsters ruin EVERYTHING.

I’m surprised so many people like this, but I’m glad for them. I’m going to pretend that “rocks fall, everyone dies” happened at the end of “Eclipse”, and put “Breaking Dawn” at the farthest reach of my bookshelf… or at least the farthest away from “Twilight” and “New Moon”. Ugh.

Great for an X-Phile — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It wrapped up many character points, and felt like the old epic story arcs in the series. Perhaps that is the problem for some reviewers – it harkend back to the TV show, as opposed to being cinematic like “Fight the Future”.

I enjoyed it immensely, and will probably see it again. I hope this opens the door to the rumored 2012 X-Files movie that Chris Carter is talking about, which he says will be alien-centric.

Decent... — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was somewhat bored until the bear showed up, and then I kept laughing out loud. This series has a lot of potential, so I’ll be reading the second volume.

How "The Roar of Love: A Musical Journey Into the Wonder of C.S. Lewis' Narnia" changed my life — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I love this album so incredibly much. I am a big fan of the books, and was recommended the album from other fans. I am not a Christian, but the album is like the books in that Christianity isn’t too obviously apparent for those who love the story. I probably listen to this album at least once a week, if not more. It is very comforting to me, and I am glad that I eventually found it.

Loved it! — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I haven’t read the books, but it really made me want to pick them up. The story was more sophisticated than I expected, and I can’t wait to read the actual text.
