This is an awesome book chronicling the lives of women who have made a name for themselves in history, from Cleopatra in Ancient Egypt, to Marie Antoinette in 18th century France and Wilma Mankiller in the present day world. It talks about their professional and historical achievements as well as their personal and private lives. Most of the women were either governmental leaders (queens, first ladies, etc.) while some on the other hand were ordinary women doing extraordinary things to fight for their beliefs and make their world a better place, giving you a good variety. Each biography is complimented by marvellous, colourful, almost caricature portraits of each woman. It’s effective and efficient yet each bio is only 3 – 4 pages long, making it very easy to understand and read.

I’d recommend this book to anybody interested in famous historical figures, looking to further their knowledge in the women’s movement or just looking for a good non-fic read. I give it four out of five.
