Lysias is generally fairly easy Greek, all things considered, except for the first few sections where he does all kinds of crazy things with grammar.
Damn grammar.
This movie was definitely worth watching – in a few places I just thought, “well, there’s my life in a nutshell.” I don’t know if that means EVERYONE will like it, but it was personally pretty meaningful and interesting to see.
This is my first time reading something for Religion 201 (I don’t really have to read it now, but there you go). So far I’m glad I’m reading it before the class starts: it’s like ancient philosophy in that it’s simple concepts and simple language but if you miss even one step then you don’t understand jack shit. I suspect he’s going to build to something big and complex (I hope he is, anyway!) but I haven’t got far enough in to tell yet.
Dear diet coke: I consume you constantly. However, the sad fact is, I hate you…
Oh well. Maybe I’ll die of aspartame-induced cancer but at least I’ll die thin.
Reading as a result of the summer book club of two. So far? Not far enough in to say how I like it. We’ll see.
I’ve picked up this book with the intention of reading it as part of my “book club” with John. So far, I don’t like it that much, although it’s been growing on me – maybe it’s because it has a very didactic kind of way of separating you from the characters. The dialogue is stilted, perhaps as a result of the translation and perhaps purposely, and I find it difficult to enjoy because of that. However, I can definitely see why Jose Saramago is a Pulitzer Prize winner – so there you are.
