WORTH CONSUMING!

Go figure.

This book is the first book in a trilogy about the Reilly triplets by Maureen Child.

“The tempting Mrs. Reilly” is about Brian Reilly. He and his brothers Aiden and Connor make a “no sex for ninety days” bet. What Brian wasn’t expecting was for his ex-wife to show back up in town after five years with a mission to seduce him because she wanted his baby.

This is a quick read and it captured my attention. I read it in just 2 days and now I am moving on to the 2nd book, “Whatever Reilly Wants”.

Highly recommended!

WORTH CONSUMING!

Saving her best for last, Phillips wraps up her jocular Hot Zone trilogy with Sophie, middle sister of the Jordan clan and co-owner of the prestigious Manhattan-based sports management agency (and family business) the Hot Zone. After a gossip columnist reveals him as gay, big-time sports agent Spencer Atkins, whose PR firm recently merged with the Hot Zone, goes MIA—just three weeks before the pro football draft. With her entire family on leave (big sister Annabelle on maternity, little sister Michelle on her honeymoon and Uncle Yank Morgan after eloping with his assistant Lola), Sophie must deal with the crisis on her own. Enter star quarterback Riley Nash, Uncle Yank’s client and Spencer’s son from a failed marriage. Riley wants his biological father to keep their familial ties under wraps, and Sophie wants to ensure they don’t lose any of Spencer’s clients. Together, they track Spencer to Florida, while Sophie tries to suppress her attraction to “jock nightmare” Riley and things go haywire back at the agency—giving a Hot Zone adversary the upper hand. Followers of this smart series will slip right into this final book, but newbies might want to check out the earlier two first

WORTH CONSUMING!

The mutilated body of a prostitute in a nun’s habit, her pubic hair shaved into a cross, appears on page one of this suspense thriller, making it plain that this book is not for the squeamish. The novel is the first in a new series featuring the Butterfield Institute, a Manhattan sex therapy clinic employing psychiatrist Dr. Morgan Snow. One of Morgan’s patients, the clever and selective call girl Cleo Thane, has written a memoir full of thinly disguised portraits of her clients, powerful men with odd fantasies and fetishes. She leaves this potentially explosive manuscript with Dr. Snow and then misses several appointments, causing Morgan to suspect foul play. Yet NYPD Det. Noah Jordain and his team, diligently pursuing leads in what’s become a gory, ritualistic series of prostitute murders, have no evidence that Cleo, whose clientele puts her in a class by herself, might be a victim. Noah and Morgan are drawn to each other, but when Morgan can’t persuade Noah to devote more effort to the search for Cleo, she determines to go undercover and meet Cleo’s principal clients herself. Ill-equipped for this masquerade, Morgan is soon in over her head and in peril. The mystery takes second place to the catalogue of sexual eccentricities, but Cleo is an engaging guide to the world of dysfunction Rose painstakingly constructs.

I read this after reading the 2nd novel, The Delilah Complex

Really great read — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Sexy bad boy Jude Jamison, a former prize-fighter and wealthy actor who has given up Hollywood for sleepy Stillbrook, Ohio, develops a mad crush on curvy, conservative gallery owner May Price. Though May does her best to thwart Jude’s bold advances, she winds up pleading for his help after her ne’er-do-well brother, $50,000 in debt, is beaten by loan shark goons. May and her brother have no choice but to borrow the money from Jude and hide out at his palatial Stillbrook estate. When Jude discovers that the terms of the debt involve a personal threat, he steps in to protect both May and himself.

I really enjoyed this book and the fact that the lead male was not interested in the typical stick thin female, yet embraced the curves of May. That was refreshing in my opinion. This books is now going on my available bookshelf at Bookcrossing.com for a future wild release or trade.

You Gotta Hear This — 3 years ago

I got this CD based on John Rich’s reputation alone. I knew of many of the songs he had written over the years for various artists as well as his reputation in “Big & Rich”. I was a little skeptical at first, but after I listened, I knew it was a purchase I do not regret.

Here are my quick thoughts on some of the tracks.

~ I pray for you…this song has more recently been recorded with Big & Rich and I like both versions.

~ Underneath the Same Moon…the title track and a beautiful song about love and separation and knowing that no matter where you are, if you look up at the moon, your soul mate is underneath that same moon.

~ Old Blue Mountain has guest vocals by singer Sara Evans, although at the time this was recorded, she was not the big name that she is now. A very beautiful song. Love the bagpipes!!

~ She Brings the Lightnin Down…WOW….Shannon Brown also recorded this, but she cannot even begin to sing it as well as John does. This is hands down one of my favorite songs on the CD. It’s got a great funky beat that just makes you want to jump in and sing along.

~ When You Love Someone…originally recorded by Bryan Adams, and the only song on this CD that John did not have a hand in writing. A really great version of the song.

~ New Jerusalem…wow. An awesome song. Gospel. Acappella…what more can you want?

I highly recommend this CD to everyone, and have been playing it for my friends because I feel very strongly in it.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really love this series of books. All the male lead characters are current or former hockey players. The female leads are strong career oriented women. I read the others last year as part of my quest to read 100 books in 2005. ~~~In this fun, fast rinkside contemporary romance from Martin (Total Rush), down-on-his-luck hockey jock Paul van Dorn and formerly overweight overachiever Katie Fisher answer the age-old question: can you ever live down high school? Reintroduced at their 10-year reunion, Paul is stunned to find the girl he dubbed “Bubble Butt” grown into a sexy sociology professor. Recently forced to retire from the NHL, Paul has returned to their hometown, tiny Didsbury, Conn., where he stews in post-pro blues at his bar, the Penalty Box. Katie, on a yearlong book sabbatical, has moved home with her mother and nephew Tuck, whose own mom is stuck in rehab. Despite Paul’s past cruelty, Katie falls for him after he gives a revealing interview for her project on sports and male identity. What begins as an undercover affair blossoms into a life-changing relationship as the pair discover that living in the present beats living in the past. Martin scores with this witty blend of romance and family dynamicsSee more progress on: Read 50 books in 2006

Why I recommend "Fireflies" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’ve been a long time fan of Faith Hill, and have always eagerly anticipated each of hew new albums. I had heard clips of Faith singing “Paris” during Fashion Week in 2004 and thought the song was haunting and beautiful. Then “Mississippi Girl” came out and I was intrigued as to what the rest of the album would sound like. When it arrived I was very impressed. Each song stands out on it’s own. Faith has established her place in country music, and in the music industry. She can not be tied to a genre of any time. Her voice is powerful when it needs to be, or sweet and soulful. She gets the job done.

Her first two hits, “Mississippi Girl” and “Like We Never Loved at all” were written by John Rich of Big & Rich fame. She also used a number of songs from newcomer Lori McKenna.

My favorite songs on this CD are the title track “Fireflies”, “Wish for You” and “Dearly Beloved”.

Wish for You is my standout song…the one that “sells” this CD in my opinion. It’s perfect as a lullabye for children. Her voice is gentle and beautiful.

No matter what the critics say about her, or the fact that she doesn’t get the credit she really deserves for her music, she is still a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.

A story about "My Favorite Witch (Berkley Sensation)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Kira is a white witch with a genius for organizing special events. When disabled star hockey player Jason Goddard—known far and wide as the Best Kisser in America and a playboy of the first order—meets her, she has just dumped her jock fiance after finding him in bed with her sister the month before the wedding. So she’s muttering spells and he gets entirely the wrong impression, and for her part she has no idea that he is her new boss, the beloved grandson of Bessie, her landlord and friend. The Pickering Foundation is in a financial bind, and Bessie hopes that together her two favorite people can bring in new money to support their charitable endeavors, especially St. Anthony’s Home for Boys. Blair’s sexy contemporary mating dance, set in Newport, Rhode Island, entertainingly pairs two commitment-phobic individuals and features cameo appearances by Melody and Logan from her previous romantic comedy, The Kitchen Witch (2004). ~ I am really enjoying this series. Even though the books are about “witches”, they are light-hearted and fun and steamy.See more progress on: Read 50 books in 2006
