after extensive procrastination, i acquired an extension and have just started to get back into it. i’m officially halfway through and the assignment is now due feb 25th, exam april 25th.

i borrowed it from the library and read a few pages then started a full time job. at the moment, and for the foreseeable future, i don’t have the time i’d like to commit to it to read it properly, because i don’t want to read a page here and there, snatching reading time whenever i can; i want to read it cover to cover without stopping.

Do not pick up this book expecting to find a written version of the show.

Yes, the show was based on it, but the style and substance is quite different. The book is much more random and wandering, only loosely following Carrie and Mr Big. From start to finish it is a collection of snippets; moments in new york relationships and conversations discussing why they are the way they are. It is much more cynical and not nearly as pretty as the show.

The TV series has much more clearly defined characters who are also much more likeable and easy to identify with. It reveals much more of their personalities and lives, and contructs a complete narrative around the main characters. The show could not have reached such a wide audience and lasted 6 seasons if it had imitated the book perfectly.

this is a 6 month course, officially started in august but i’ve barely done a thing. the assignment is due at the 4 month mark (25 dec) and the exam at 6 months (25 feb).

i really need to get my arse into gear and STUDY!

i have to say, this is a good idea, but maybe not for a book. it’s the kind of thing that’s so personal and individual that while reading through it i find myself disagreeing and questioning things quite a lot.
why are ‘male chauvanist pigs’ something to be happy about?

i’d say writing this is the kind of thing you’d do just for yourself, or a few close friends, rather than publish to the world.

acquired this for the excellent price of $4 at a secondhand booksale.

reading it as a sort of ‘positive input’ therapy.

hooray! my boy bought this for me yesterday, so i finally get to listen to it.
i’m sort of addicted to the lead single (it’s just so catchy!), and quite like to other two or three tracks i’d heard on rtr fm, so i anticipate that i’ll like it as a whole.

also, we are going to see esky mojo friday sept 8th. looking forward to it.

oh noes! they replaced my favourite thing to watch over breakfast with yugioh! it was my reason to get up in the morning! (well, y’know, work isn’t very motivating).
