Why I recommend "Mental Jewelry"

Mental Jewelry

by Live

I forgot all about this album, yet another one I am rediscovering as I pour through my collection. I consider this to be the best Live album, even better than the highly acclaimed Throwing Copper.

Why I recommend "The Final Cut"

The Final Cut

by Pink Floyd

I forgot how wonderful this album is, and furthermore, how wonderful the writing and composition of Roger Waters is. I put it on my iPod by mistake this morning, and have been listening to it this evening. This album carries a lot of the same emotional and spiritual struggles forward from The Wall, and even has some of the same melodic themes.

My two favorite tracks so far are “One of the Few” and “The Gunner’s Dream”.

Give Waters a chance. Listen to this a few times over. He’ll grow on you, and you might discover some things about yourself.

A story about "The Subtle Knife (His Dark Materials II) Tenth Anniversary 1995-2005"

Pullman

The second installment of this trilogy beats the first hands down. I’m not entirely sure how Pullman plans to wrap this up, but I will say that he is writing the story that I wanted to compose. He’s got guts, and is one of the best story tellers I’ve run across.

A story about "Undoing Yourself With Energized Meditation and Other Devices"

Undoing Yourself With Energized Meditation and Other Devices

by Christopher Hyatt

I just picked this book up yesterday to read after I finish my current fiction work. I didn’t want to start the next chapter of my book because my subway stop was coming up, so I read the introductory essay by Robert Anton Wilson that kicks this book off.

Wow. I was sucked in. I can’t wait to really start working through the exercises. It’s going to be a trip.

The book intends to teach the read (via exercise and meditation) to destroy the self, or to realize the True Will.

Why I recommend "Naked Economics: Undressing the Dismal Science"

It would have saved some pain, and might’ve helped me develop a more balanced view of the world.

Most introductory economics books that I’ve read tend to lean far to the political right, which ultimately turn me off. Wheelan takes a very different approach by showing us the value of Government intervention (limited), while demonstrating the virtue of the free market.

I’d happily recommend this to anyone else out there looking for a well delivered explanation of basic economics in a turbulent world.

Why I recommend "Code and Other Laws of Cyberspace"

Code and Other Laws of Cyberspace

by Lawrence Lessig

This book can really change the way you see the Internet, and the ongoing struggle to make it the best environment possible.

Too many of us (myself included) get caught up in the libertarian view that the Internet is free, and it should be kept free of reguluation. The market will take care of itself.

Lessig shows us that while that is a nice ideal, it doesn’t translate. Cyberspace is not natural. It was created, and can be controlled if we don’t work to stop it and make sure our values are known.

Why I recommend "The Jesus Papers: Exposing the Greatest Cover-Up in History"

This book has inspired me to look further.

Why I recommend "Nasty People: How to Stop Being Hurt By Them Without Becoming One of Them"

It breaks down the concept of invalidation in simple terms (which is obviously meant for folks like me), and teaches you how to recognize in yourself and others, as well as how to counter act it.

I plan on reading this several more times in the coming weeks. It is wonderufl.

To be honest, it would be much better without any of it.

It’s a book about how people are able to make snap decisions. It’s just not groundbreaking news to me.

A story about "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming"

So far so good. I am remembering a few dreams a week, while I used to recall zero.

You just can’t do character development in this short of a timespan.

This book was a quick read that put me in edge and ready to make things happen.

Business as usual is no more. Time to start talking.

I’ve made it my goal to base my latest product around the ideas of this book.

http://www.areyouhiring.com

This is the first album I’ve bought in the past couple of years that made me get in my car and drive around for no other reason than to listen and reflect upon this album.

It’s amazing. I believe this is the best stuff since Lucy Ford.
