A story about "Cats Don't Dance" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

You know, although I watch a lot of animation, “Cats Don’t Dance” isn’t the sort of thing that I would normally pick up. It’s actually quite good. The story is pretty predictable [just a small town cat with a dream!], but the character animation is excellent. The characters have a lot of life and a great style, especially in the dancing scenes.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I enjoyed the books as a kid, but I just couldn’t get into the remake. This version is pretty simple and cute—perfect for kids… It was made in the 50s, and it excerpts the book pretty faithfully.

Definitely worth catching. — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I never would have found this movie if it wasn’t for that 1000+ movie list. The pieces sound really unlikely - it’s a noir film set in Arizona, and Walter Mathau is a bank robber who suddenly finds himself with too much money after a heist at a small town bank - but it turned out to be a good little film.

*Much* much better than the remake. — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This version had a very 70s sci-fi setting and a more ambiguous plot. The action sequences were pretty run-of-the-mill, but the 70s-future was really interesting… It’s not as good as “Soylent Green”, but it shared the same cleanly distopian, corporate future…

WORTH CONSUMING!

I saw this today—I wanted to catch it before it closed.

This movie is not for everyone, or even for every Terry Gilliam fan. It even opens with a disclaimer by Gilliam. I felt this huge sense of dread for the main character the whole time - I kept expecting beasties to come get her. Really though, the things in her life that are really no good are real and they aren’t actually doing her much harm - her fantasy world is protecting her from the crazy going on around her. If you’re looking for Baron Munchausen-style fantasy [or, you know, a plot], this probably isn’t the movie for you, but I left the theater sorting through what fantasy worlds really do for us…

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was an interesting documentary, but not for two and a half hours. I lost interest about an hour and a half into it. The people they chose to interview are have good things to say and interesting stories, but I felt like there wasn’t a whole lot there that was new to me.

A story about "Who Killed the Electric Car?" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Probably the most depressing documentary I’ve seen in a while. Who Killed the Electric Car?” makes me really glad that I don’t live in California and don’t own a car.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Um, this Disney movie is live action… Why is it on the list of animated feature films?
