WORTH CONSUMING!

This is one of my top all-time favorite books, so I was thrilled to see it turned into a movie! However, I think it must be hard to watch if you haven’t read the book – the movie glosses over a lot of the details and pieces I thought were kind of critical.

However, the scenery is out of this world, and it’s worth seeing just for how beautiful it is, even if you haven’t read the book.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This movie falls into the “so bad it’s good” category. It is terribly awful. I was forced to watch it on a 28-hour bus ride in Peru. My friends and I were dying laughing at the part where they have a charity auction for “CWNFITA” – Children With No Feeling In Their Arms. They poked the kids in the arms with forks. AWESOME! Anyways, I am sure this never made it to theaters in the U.S., and apparently we shipped all copies of it to Peru to try and block it out of our memories. It remains abundantly available there – rush right down & see it!!

A review of "Around the World in 80 Dates" — 3 years ago

I really wanted to like this book. The concept – traveling around the world to meet one’s soul mate – is fodder for an interesting journey, no? But Cox doesn’t do the story justice, and you end up getting annoyed that she keeps talking about the same fears over and over again (“Is this worth doing?” “Will I really meet my soul mate?” “Am I crazy?”).

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a fantastic love story about a couple and their relationship through a series of non-linear road trips. It might be my new most favorite movie ever.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

My Sister: You have the worst taste in movies.
Me: Hey, I rented the Godfather, too, come on.
My Sister: Jennifer Love Hewitt cancels out like 70% of all your good movie rentals.
<terrible, terrible love scene />
Me: Oh God, I’m going to kill myself
My Sister: Why are you watching this?!
Me: I wanted to know her life story. I guess I should have read her biography instead…
My Sister: Which T.V. channel was this made for?

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I am five minutes into this movie & already Jennifer Love Hewitt’s fake Audrey accent is killing me.

WORTH CONSUMING!

People talk about this being such an amazing movie all the time. I had no idea I was going to be so mesmerized. Watching this right before Goodfellas made the latter seem less awesome than it normally would/should be. It is truly a beautiful film, and I can’t wait to watch the two followups.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Things I should never learn how to make – it’s so good I would gain a million pounds making it every day.

How "The King and I" changed my life — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Now I finally understand why the Saturday Night Live sketch about Yul Brynner’s cousin Kitty Brynner’s Travel Agency (Travel Et Cetera) was so hilarious. FINALLY.
