I LOVE Fiji water, and drank it for a long time. I just stopped recently (just as it’s become easier to get) because I started thinking about how much fuel it’s taking – and how much it’s polluting – to get this water to us!
We are lucky today to be able to eat and drink products from anywhere in the world, but at what price? Fiji is proud to bring us their water from the least polluted place on the planet – but the reason it is so pure, is because it is so far away. Thus, it takes that much more pollutants to get the water to us. The best thing we can do for the planet is to start drinking and eating our food as locally as we can, so that the whole planet can become as pure as Fiji. Otherwise, even Fiji in a matter of decades will not have that wonderful taste to their water anymore for our children to experience.
Put a filter on your tap – get a Brita or Pur and carry water from home, or get spring water from the Adirondacks on the east coast, as an example. It takes a lot less gasoline to haul it to us from there than thousands of miles across the ocean, then thousands of miles across the country. :)
This is one of my favorite belgian tripels. I have been told by others that it is on the sweet side, but for me it is just right. I think it has a good balance from the mix of different grains – wheat, oats and barley give it a warmth, as well as hops. It’s very heady. Be careful with pouring, or you’ll end up with a glass of foam :)
It’s a moderately strong belgian at 8% alc.
Yum!
