A story about "The Penelopiad: The Myth of Penelope and Odysseus (Myths)" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

this was so fun to read. margaret atwood always puts a great feminist spin on everything. i was so lucky to get it from the library as soon as it came out. she’s a genius.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was a really entertaining and enlightening book. It was sad but also compulsively readable. it taught me a lot about the “working poor”. besides a few minor things i really enjoyed it and would recommend it to others.

WORTH CONSUMING!

i loved this book. a lot more than i thought i would. so, so nice, and a surprising ending. i liked it’s message… one complaint, however: no 15 year old boy would EVER say ”...young girls with blue eyeshadow and awkward jaws”, i don’t care HOW gifted he’s supposed to be. i really liked the fact that they mentioned the main character reading “the catcher in the rye” since the narrative styles were so similar to each other. i was trying to decide who the hell he was writing these letters to, and all i can come up with is the reader. too simplistic of a guess probably.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

this book took me ages to read and i hated (almost) every second of it! i had to read it for an american literature class and i can’t believe that i actually did it, quite frankly… i hate the way it’s written… the last 40 pages were pretty cool though, i have to admit. ahab’s a pretty complex and amazing character, i must say.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book was not as enjoyable as “a complicated kindness” or “a boy of good breeding” but it was still worthwhile. very depressing, though. it made me really sad. it had an interesting narrative approach, though: toews writing a bio of her father from his own perspective.

As someone who is ignorant about world politics and is trying to learn more, I enjoyed this book. It was consice and educational.

This book was so funny and enjoyable to read. I love books which talk about how great books are. (Another good one if you liked this one is “So many books, So little time” by Sara Nelson.) I’m officially a big fan of Nick Hornby. I went out and got “The Believer” magazine since these were all essays from it, and he’s still writing about the books he’s read. oh why can’t he be a friend of mine?
