A story about "Tron (20th Anniversary Collector's Edition)" — 2 years ago

The general topic of this movie is computers, programming, and hacking (at the level it was done in the 80’s) so I would only recommend this movie for hard-core nerds (of which, I am one.) On one hand, the movie was terrible – the plot made little sense, and the writers threw around some jargon (and even made some up) without really seeming to understand much about programming. For that matter, it seemed like the dialogue was written by a teenager. On the other hand, the computer graphics were really good for the era in which they were made. And the story just kept getting more and more ridiculous, which means it will probably be recycled by my group of friends as a good drinking game movie, along with Labyrinth, Dune, and Dungeons and Dragons.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was inspired to watch this (finally!) after reading about the recent U.S. attorney firings in the news.

The movie got off to a rocky start, but it ended up being pretty good. I do enjoy the occasional courtroom drama, and that’s essentially what this was. I thought Tom Cruise gave an excellent performance. Jack Nicholson and Demi Moore – so-so.

I quite enjoyed Cruise’s character’s impression of Nicholson’s character.

WORTH CONSUMING!

A cute story, and a really good soundtrack. I’ve had the music from the movie stuck in my head since I saw the movie two days ago. I love both Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant. Hugh Grant looks like Tom Cruise in the opening sequence, with an 80’s haircut and sunglasses. A good date movie.

WORTH CONSUMING!

An amusing movie. Like other Monty Python movies/shows, much of the movie consists of asides that really have nothing to do with the main plot, but are kind of funny. I got a DVD copy of this movie for my birthday (thus replacing my VHS copy) so I decided to watch it again while I was sick. A nice movie for such a purpose, entertaining but not requiring much brain power.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I watched this again while I was sick this past week. I love how this movie tells two stories, one in “present time” and one through flashbacks. And Robert Redford is an excellent actor! Even Brad Pitt is pretty good in this movie.

WORTH CONSUMING!

An enjoyable story by George Lucas. One of my friends describes this movie as “everything I wished Episodes 1 – 3 of Star Wars could have been.” As I watched it again last night, I made a mental comparison of the comic-relief brownie sprites to Jar-Jar Binks. They’re annoying, but not “Jar-Jar annoying.”

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really enjoyed this series. There are a few things about some of the characters’ behavior that don’t make much sense, but otherwise I thought the plot lines were generally pretty engaging. It got a little weird toward the end but I am very much looking forward to watching season 2.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I saw this once when I was much younger, and then I saw it again a few months ago. Both times I thought it was so moving. Very sad, but definitely worth watching. This movie reminds me of how amazing an actor Johnny Depp can be.

WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s wasn’t a good movie, but it was an enjoyable one. It really got me tense, even though I rolled my eyes at so many of the plot devices. Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock are so goofy, but I thought they did well in their roles.

Worth watching once, but I probably won’t watch it again.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This is one of those “so bad it’s good” movies – so some people might really enjoy it (including one of my friends, who also likes MST3K and Marx Brothers type comedy) but this movie was not for me. I felt my time was wasted in watching this movie, so I fell asleep about halfway through.
