A story about "The Simpsons Movie (Widescreen Edition)" — 1 year ago
Ditto to junggle’s entry below – it’s pretty much like an 80 minute episode. But a decent episode, not like the crap they’ve been showing these days.

The whole point of the movie is a “revenge” job, but there wasn’t really enough character development to make the viewer feel like the revenge was justified or appropriate. I just didn’t feel “involved.”
Many of the lines are so corny. And the acting is pretty bad. At least there were a few decent stunts.
I think I would have liked the original, shorter version of this better. Wilde went a little overboard with the lists of music Dorian listened to, stories he heard, fabrics he collected, etc. Ditto on the comment two below: the allusions were overwhelming. I generally liked the plot though.
It’s not out yet on DVD, but NBC has them available at their website. The downside, of course, is that you have to sit through some commercials.
The season got off to a slow start, but was pretty good most of the way through. The last three or four episodes were really slow, almost as if they ran out of story but had to drag it out to meet their quota of shows. I think all the “goodbye” stuff could have been compressed a lot.
The movie might have been ok if they had cut down the length by about half and gotten rid of all the jokes which were repeated from the previous movies. They clearly left an opening for yet another sequel, which I would take some severe convincing to see. I was actually bored during most of the second half of the movie, and was counting the minutes till it was over.
It’s yummy, but that’s the problem. DH always gets tons of this from my mom and then it’s just sitting around the house, begging to be eaten. And I can’t help myself.
I loved this movie! I thought they jumped too quickly into getting Bruce out of jail and into training (pacing was too fast at the beginning) but otherwise I thought the pacing was good, with a good balance of action and character development.
I saw all the really funny parts of the movie months ago on the internet. The rest of the stuff wasn’t that good, so I felt like it was a waste of time to watch the whole movie.
