It's a classic — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

A lot of the humor is slapstick – and that’s not really my kind of humor. But it is a classic – it’s almost required viewing. It was worth watching once, if only for the fact that now I will understand all the pop culture references to this movie.

Adequately entertaining — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This version of the book actually includes ‘The Time Traders’ and its sequel, ‘Galactic Derelict.’ I didn’t find the writing to be terribly inspiring, and the plot was somewhat predictable, but it was entertaining enough to keep me reading all the way through. I guess that’s saying something.

A story about the last time I consumed "Grapes" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Of course, I have eaten grapes many times before. But just now I had the most delicious seedless red grapes I’ve ever eaten. They were smaller than usual, but very firm and sweet. They were so good that I just had to record this date for posterity, as the day I ate the most delicious grapes ever.

Mediocre — 3 years ago

I saw this last night on TV. It’s a mediocre movie, but entertaining enough if you’re bored. Plus, I like Mel Gibson.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I thought this movie was pretty good, but a little confusing…not that I blame the filmmakers since it’s a true story. The ending was definitely quite sudden, as if they just ran out of funding in the middle of the story. I love Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman – they definitely gave great performances.

Plus, I saw it on PBS, so no commercials!

A story about "Roving Mars: Spirit, Opportunity, and the Exploration of the Red Planet" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really enjoyed this book. It is quite well written and I learned a lot about the process of managing a space mission through all the phases of development. I also learned a lot about the purpose of sending the rovers to Mars in the first place.

I wish I could get DH to read this; I think he’s learn a lot too. Plus, it is actually his book which his parents got him for his birthday…

A story about "For Whom the Bell Tolls (Scribner Classics)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Usually when I read a book, I am either excited to continue reading, or I procrastinate about having to keep reading. This book was one of those rare cases where I could sort of take it or leave it. I found it interesting that the main storyline only encompasses a few days (and the book is quite thick!) but the flashbacks fill in the story’s background quite nicely.

I also appreciated some of the phrasing. It did a great job of reflecting Spanish syntax/phrasing, even though most of the story is written in English.

A story about "Hershey's Caramel Kisses" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

These are so delicious, and they just melt in your mouth! That’s why they’re so dangerous! You can eat half the bag before you even realize you should stop. My friends and I started eating them during our D&D sessions and we always finished off the bag very quickly. Thank goodness there were so many of us sharing the bag! They last a little longer in your mouth if you freeze them first, but then in my opinion they’re not quite as good.

A review of "Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion" — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

My skin gets very dry in the winter, so a good lotion is very important to me. Based on the commercials, I thought I’d try the Aveeno lotion but I was quite disappointed. The lotion is advertised as ‘lasting for 24 hours’ but it only lasts for a few hours. That’s ok for my hands (it’s not advertised as lasting through hand washing) but it’s a hassle to have to reapply lotion to my itchy legs when I’m wearing multiple layers to deal with the cold weather.

The commercial says, “I don’t want healthy skin for a day; I want healthy skin for life.” Well, I’d like healthy skin for a day, for starters.

A story about "Serenity (Widescreen Edition)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I quite enjoyed this movie, although I thought of it as more of an extra episode of Firefly than a movie. I think I would have been confused about some things if I hadn’t seen the rest of the series first. It’s definitely worth watching again at some point.
