Why I recommend "The Gods Must Be Crazy Series (The Gods Must Be Crazy / The Gods Must Be Crazy II)" — 6 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

i don’t remember the second film (it’s been so long since i’ve seen it) but this year is saw the original again and this movie is soooooooooo funny. We were laughing so hard. Truly a comedy of errors and very definitely one of the funniest movies of all time.

Why I recommend "Groundhog Day (Special Edition)" — 6 years ago

i just rewatched this about a week ago, and there are some really, really funny moments. The TV station is nothing like the one i work at (the studio is right inside the news room??? come on, how believable is that?) but this is definitely worth seeing at least once even if it isn’t the greatest film of all time. (:

Why I recommend "Stranger Than Fiction" — 6 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This movie was awesome, offbeat and funny, i never expected Will Ferrell to ever play such a deadpan character! Definitely a comedy but it has important underlying themes that are addressed, too, and i particularly appreciate Emma Thompson’s performance and what she says at the end about making a choice and sticking with it even when you know the outcome is bad for yourself. Definitely worth consuming!

Why I recommend "The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress" — 6 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The first time i tried to read this i couldn’t get into it, but this time around it was hard to put down at certain points. i don’t have much time to read during the semester but i kept picking it up every few days, eager to find out what happens next. The narrative is a little different from what one expects to find these days, but this book is still well written, discussing the theories of government and overthrowing one without sounding at all preachy, tactfully getting the point across. For a sci fi fan who loves the genre for the thought provoking issues it faces rather than the blast-it-up fly-fast mentality, this is definitely worth a read.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Not the best book i’ve ever read, but definitely interesting. i would recommend but not rave about.

this is the end? — 6 years ago

There is absolutely no closure here! What happened to the Quagmires??? Unless there are sequels or spin offs i am very upset. Not Lemony’s finest hour.

thank you for the happy ending — 6 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

i figured it out way before Kate did, but i was so relieved by the ending, i think that it would have ruined the film otherwise. Some films/books do well with the sad endings but this one… the message would have been wrong. This was meant to be a “love conquers all” moment not a “oh well, you still have the other guy” one. The entire point of the film was that people can be together even if separated by time and that waiting is worth it. Awesome film, the best chick flick love story i’ve seen in a long time, probably since Kate & Leopold.

Why I recommend "Lost - The Complete Second Season" — 6 years ago

The deal with this show, what makes it so great, is the character development. If you fall in love with the characters or a character then you’re going to love this show, otherwise there is no point. The mystery of what’s going on certainly plays a part, but it better to focus on everyone’s background and figure out how everyone is interconnected (even before they were on the Island). Easter eggs abound, like Hurley on the TV when Jin is beating someone up, Sawyer running into a car door when Christian Shephard (talking to Ana Lucia) are parked outside a bar, a Dharma logo on a shark’s tail… examples abound. i know i’m not as addicted to this show as some, but man i love these characters. i can’t help but love Lost.

keep it coming — 6 years ago

While i would say that season two was not nearly as good as season one this show still shows a lot of promise and has great twist & turn shock factor. i now can’t wait to see season three. But certain things annoy me like Tom’s new love interest and how Isabelle just suddenly grew up (it would have been more believable if she had been growing up at a sped up rate than just suddenly maturing instantly). Worth viewing but i hope that season three is even better.

A story about "The Cave (Widescreen Edition)" — 6 years ago

So the previews for this movie were awesome, and the buzz was that it was like Alien, but boy was this movie tame. No fear was inspired, it was too dark to see very much, and the characters weren’t developed at all. The twist at the ending was neat but still left me wanting and expecting more. Okay, but not a satisfying experience.
