Film Noir — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Really, really, an excellent film. As other reviewers have pointed out, it is set in a high school, presumably in California. The tone and the filmography are absolutely right on, if a little updated. No more hiding in shadows on dirty city streets, these sleuths and crooks live in the suburbs.

It really was a little hard to follow, mostly because it really does seem like a script written for a classic film noir, old slang delivered in quiet, pubescent voices. Totally unexpected.

All in all, I stand by my five star rating. Really couldn’t have asked for anything else… Well, maybe a better soundtrack. It was a little distracting.

A review of "Sin City" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I heard Sin City was good, but I kind of assumed that was thanks to the editing and visual styles which left the viewer stunned and speechless, unable to seriously consider the other aspects of the film. Was I ever wrong. Not only is this movie visually appealing, it works with one of the most exceptional plotlines in contemporary action film (not that this is my preferred genre, but I can tell, dig?). Not only worth consuming once, worth consuming repeatedly; I suspect different aspects will impress me with each repeat viewing.

A story about "Jerk chicken" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

You know, I’m not a huge fan of spicy, but when it’s 2 in the morning and I’m drunk and Dan’s makin’ jerk chicken and corn, I’m eating it. And enjoying the hell out of it.

A story about "Money Will Ruin Everything" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I didn’t listen to it nearly as much as I thought I would. As surprising as I myself find it, this album is really better suited for listening away from the computer… i.e. in the car (or where ever else, really…)

Psychological Thriller... — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Not so thrilling ending. In fact, while I can’t say I would have like the book better with a different ending, I can say that it almost ruined the book for me. Not quite, mind you, and don’t let this deter you (notice the 4 stars…)

Romantic, Yet Intelligent — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

If those two words have to be opposites…

At any rate, I thought this book was amazing. The love story aspect of it was incredibly romantic, playing with the destiny and free-will of the characters, and really driving the time travel. However, the time travel didn’t lose a bit of its scientific grounding, in fact, advancing a pretty interesting condition with a pretty interesting resolution.

Totally Worth It.

Riveting, except... — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The story was interrupted every chapter by a whole chapter of radio plays, which weren’t really continuous in any way, either with the story or each other. Although towards the end I understood why the plays were involved, it made it a little tough to keep going sometimes.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I saw The Wrens live, and it was probably one of the best shows I’ve ever seen in my life. This album is fabulous.

Come on. — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s unbelievably syrupy sweet. It’s disgustingly adorable. It’s nauseatingly cute. So, I mean… Come on…
