A story about "Medieval Conduct" — 4 years ago

I checked out this book from the library just to read the article by my old professor, Mark Addison Amos:
“For Manners Make Man”: Bourdieu, de Certeau, and the Common Appropriation of Noble Manners in the Book of Courtesy

WORTH CONSUMING!

A bit draggy to read cover to cover, but a very interesting reasearch book.

A story about "The Secret Middle Ages: Discovering the Real Medieval World" — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Very dense reading, I just couldn’t sit down and read it cover to cover. Very interesting sections however, I will read all of it some day.

A story about "The Anatomist" — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Dissappointing, it wasn’t even satisfying enough to make it a beach read. Less than 2 hours in the car & I was done, predictable plot, pretentious historical fiction. Thumbs down.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Loved it. Now let me go read sylvia plath in the kitchen…

A story about "The Da Vinci Code" — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was very disappointed with this book. I was expecting (hoping for?) something of the same calibre as Focault’s Pendulum. The conspiracies have little basis in history if any at all, the details are flawed, and the ending is trite.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The section on Colleen Moore’s Fairy Castle was very interesting.

A story about "The Dante Club : A Novel" — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Much better than the movie, “The Ninth Gate”.

A story about "Piscinae: Artificial Fishponds in Roman Italy (Studies in the History of Greece and Rome Series)" — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I just can’t take any more latin names right now, so this book is going back to the library. Maybe I will finish it at a future date.

A story about "The Blue Sword (Newbery Honor Roll)" — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I read this for the first time back in grade school, and re-read it this past summer. It still holds up as a great story.
