A review of "The Water Room (Bryant & May Mysteries)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Not as good as Full Dark House, this book nevertheless tells a fascinating story about a deep mystery that cuts deep into the heart of London. While I missed the stronger character elements of Full Dark House, Bryan and May are still the humorous and effective odd couple. People who interested in things such as psychogeography and the relationship between cities and myth, or even just London, will find the plot interesting.

A review of "His Majesty's Dragon (Temeraire, Book 1)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Add Jane Austen to the list of influences. At heart, this is a manner of morals in which the world of 200 years ago has been reshaped by the existence of dragons. There is a new social class, a new edge to fighting wars, and a whole different natural order that Novik integrates beautifully into a well-told tale that is also full of character development and action.

A review of "You are the Quarry (Jewel Case)" — 3 years ago

Is Morrissey only getting better as he gets older? While a newer album has just been released, I still go back to You Are the Quarry and think, wow, his voice sounds great, the songs are dynamic, witty, and soulful, and there are some tunes on here which just rock.
