A bundle of laugh — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

JUST SHOOT ME is an absolutely one of those tv comedy series that is perfect to watch if you’re having one of your tv series marathon week. It’s full with laughs and you won’t regret watching it.

It’s mostly base around office antics, featuring Maya Gallo (Laura San Giacomo), whose a hard headed girl would have her own strong opinions on everything and pretty much against sexist acts, who got fired from her old job for some gag she did to an anchorwoman on the teleprompter and with the lack of choice, she went to work with her father’s Fashion Magazine named Blush. There her adventures begins as she tries to patch things up with her dad, Jack Gallo (George Segal) after the fall out she had with him for marrying her very own schoolmate. Then, in the side trying to keep up with the antics of Nina Van Horn (Wendie Malick) who happens to be an ex-model, Elliot DiMauro (Enrico Colantoni) the main model photographer and Dennis Finch (David Spade), Jack’s secretary who secretly wish he is Jack’s biological son which really frustrating since Jack don’t really care much about him in that way.

I love the way they did a “Front Cover” of the Blush Magazine that features different model every episode, and using it’s headlines to guide their viewers from one plot of the episode to another. I wish they bumndle up the third seaosn as well in this boxset though.

Fast pace with a twist — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

If you are looking for a movie that would put you in the edge of your seat in every single minute for 100 minutes or so, this is one of those. Dakota Fanning and Robert De Niro would put you on the edge on this fast pace, and full of suspense movie.

David Callaway (Robert De Niro), a widower, who happens to be a psychologist, takes on the role to help his daughter, Emily (Dakota Fanning), to go through the trauma of the death of her mother, Alison (Amy Irving). He even move them away from the city and into the country in this particular isolated house to heal. Things turn for the worse when Emily starts getting this gothic drained look, with dark circles under her eyes, more withdrawn and it gets creepier when she develops an imaginary friend, name Charlie. Things gets odd with David having weird dreams involving his late wife, and the house seems to have an unknown intruder, making Charlie a bit more real than being just an imaginary friend for Emily. Anything gone wrong in the house Emily keeps on blaming Charlie and there always seems to be something about. The only time Emily seems to be at least normal is when Katherine (Famke Janssen), her shrink is around. Don’t miss the twisted plot now.

As much as most people hope it’s a horror, I’m sorry to say it’s more a mystery & thriller sort of movie, so don’t complained if you’re looking for horror and gets disappointed after watching this movie. The characters pull you in and the plots are really nerve wreaking. I pretty much enjoy it but they can do better. Nevertheless, I prefer the alternate ending provided by the dvd.

Lively, sweet and short — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I must admit, the reason why I found myself being attracted to this book was the illustration on the front cover. Who wouldn’t be curious about somebody carrying a dressed pig?

The story is about two witches, Dora and Heckie, who happened to be bestfriends since they attended the school of magic, only to fall out over a pair of identical hats, (which are made from real live snakes). Nevertheless, both of these witches continue trying to go good in the world by punishing bad people. The plots are fast moving but leaning more to the adventures of Heckie, who has this wonderful dragworm as a familiar and young children as friends, one particularly she loved dearly as he was her very own son.

As much as the characters grabbed you in their fast moving plots, I rather find it pretty short. The last plot was kind of catchy and full of suspense, since it involved a man named Lionel Knacksap, who exploited Heckie into doing whatever he wanted her to do, you would pretty much would like to read the ending for this particular plot. However, I pretty much enjoy the book as something to past the time with.

A review of "The Witches (Puffin Novels)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have to admit I actually have no idea this book exist. I actually thought the movie was an original and not a book adaptation. Nevertheless it was a pleasant surprise to actually read this book and it wasn’t a let down either since it’s the first time ever for me to read one of Roald Dahl’s work.

The main character is an orphaned 7 years old boy who lives with his grandmother who happens to know more than she should, of the secret world of witches. Not any other witches, children hating witches who wish to get rid of them from the face of the earth! He found himself trapped in a roomful of them while he was on a vacation with his grandmother. He watched as all of the describing given by his grandmother about witches comes true right infront of his eyes, while he is safely tucked behind the sceen out from their sight – but wait! They could sniff out children with their big noses!!! Cornered, they turned him into a mouse!! A talking mouse infact. Armed with that, a grandmother that’s an expert with the knowledge of witches and himself being as clever as a mouse, they have quite an adventure trying to foil the witches evil scheme.

Quite an interesting story the characters pull you in with the pace of the plots. Something to add in your children’s bookshelf, and I say you wouldn’t be disappointed.

Mischieviously Puck-ish! — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is the first time I actually pick out a book that’s based on a real TV Series, and much to my delight, it’s pretty much a really good tied-in book! I would recommend any other Charmed fan to pick up this book to read.

In “As Puck Would Have It”, the Charmed ones stumble upon an odd character which turned out to be the being named Puck which literally a charcater referance from the “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. He’s pretty much trouble for the Charmed ones, bearing a mysterious task for them, bringing them to the circus to search for the Innocent he wanted them to save. The problem was, Puck didn’t tell them directly who they are trying to save. In trying to look for their Innocent, They’ve stumbled onto the mysterious deaths of two of the circus’s star animals.

Reading this book is like watching the series itself in the tv in your head. Pretty much well written and the plots are well thought. It had pretty much pulled me into this book, turning page after page once I have had started.
