A story about "My Sister's Keeper: A Novel" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’d read some of the reviews on this book on Amazon before getting it out of the library, but none of them gave any true hint as to how powerful and thought-provoking the book actually is. I cried when I finished it this morning, and before that I hadn’t been able to put it down for two hours. Wow is all I can say…I’ll definitely be looking for more by the same author.

A story about "Eragon (Inheritance, Book 1)" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Without a doubt, Eragon is one of the best fantasy books I’ve read in quite a while. I’d heard of it at least a year ago, but I can’t believe I waited as long as I did to read it. I’m eagerly looking forward to the next book in the trilogy.

I love the lyrical prose…the words flow together and reading the book is a joy – there’s some very beautiful language and descriptions. Knowing that the author was only 15 when he started writing is great inspiration for an aspiring writer like myself, as well.

A story about "The Time Traveler's Wife" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I finished this book on the way home from work yesterday, and it made me cry on the train. There is an incredible amount of detail and story-weaving in this book, it’s rather amazing. I don’t know if I’d read it again, but it’s definitely a book that will stay with me for a while.

A story about "A Stroke of Midnight (Meredith Gentry Novel)" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

As usual, there’s a lot of sex and high faerie court intrigue in the latest Merry Gentry novel. I dislike the cliffhanger ending, but other than that I enjoyed the rest of the book. I especially like the descriptions of more of the Unseelie sidhe; as well as the new powers the sidhe and Meredith are gaining.

A story about "The Wild Irish: A Novel of Elizabeth I and the Pirate O'Malley" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I picked this book up at the library on a whim, not expecting that I’d enjoy it quite as much as I did. The author does a very good job of making Elizabeth and Grace O’Malley real women. The story of the Earl of Essex is particularly tragic. Before reading this book I knew nothing about Elizabeth’s Irish wars, but I’m sure I’ll be looking for more books on them now.

A story about "Virgin: Prelude to the Throne" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I enjoyed this book quite a bit; it was a rather good novel detailing the period of history before Elizabeth I ascended the throne of England. The author based many of the events on historical fact, and made logical conclusions when there was no information available on events. I’ll definitely be checking out the other items in this series.
