A story about "Oblivion: Stories" — 5 years ago

Though his style and structure are almost distractingly detailed, there’s something very likeable about the way DFW writes. This is the first time I’ve read anything of his, so I wasn’t quite expecting a 3 1/2 page paragraph in which there was a 2 1/2 page-long sentence.

(Returned because the item was requested. Will return to this eventually, as the second story seemed more enjoyable than the first.)

A story about "Meat Market: Animals, Ethics, & Money" — 5 years ago

Erik was nice enough to send me an advance copy of his book, one that he is extremely proud of. And rightly so.

I’ll be posting a full review to vegblog.org and in Herbivore Magazine (probably) when I finish it.

A story about "Help! I'm A Prisoner In The Library (Help! I'm...)" — 5 years ago

A blast from the past! Just as I was thinking about this book, I saw it on the “for sale” rack at our library for 25 cents.

A story about "Free Culture: How Big Media Uses Technology and the Law to Lock Down Culture and Control Creativity" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

If there was every any doubt that copyright laws need to change, look no further than anything Lessig’s written on the subject (especially this book).

[I read the first 31 pages, but then decided to listen to the audiobook.]

A story about "Rhythm Science (Mediaworks Pamphlets)" — 4 years ago

Written in Spooky’s signature style, which can be easily dismissed as intellectual fluffery except for the fact that it’s very lyrical, appropriate for a book of this topic.

A story about "Dave Barry's Complete Guide to Guys" — 4 years ago

Good bathroom reading.

That said, is it any wonder I’m finishing this book faster than the others I’m reading now?
