A story about "The Secret Garden" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book is amazing. It’s incredibly pure and beautiful. I don’t know that it’s a great literary work on par with Ulysses, but it’s so easy to love that I like it better. I first read it when I was 7 or 8 I think, and it enchanted me.

There are a number of books I consider responsible for creating a love of reading and language that has more than served me well; this is one of them. It’s one book I will always have with me, wherever I live. There aren’t enough wonderful things I can think to say about it!

A story about "Nutella" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I first tasted Nutella when an exchange student from France was staying with us. She saw it in the grocery store and insisted that we buy some. It was the beginning of a deep, enduring love. For some reason, transfats perhaps, it’s particularly unhealthy. But it’s totally worth it!

WORTH CONSUMING!

I had to read this in H.S. Many years later I still shudder to think of it. I absolutely loathe this book; it’s an almost irrational response. But, I think it should be read. Many politicians today are still operating from these principles.

Why I recommend "Their Eyes Were Watching God" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’m perpetually shocked that this book isn’t practically mandatory in the US. It is breath-taking in every way. Personally, I consider this something to be read whenever I need to be reminded how to live. It’s classic in so many ways, and one of the few female heroes I’ve come across in literature worthy of using as inspiration in my own life.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book is utterly wonderful. If you want someone to learn to love books, this is great for a child. So many children’s books are horrid, simplistic and demeaning; TWW is none of these. The language used is excellent, for the vocabulary alone, and the characters are so much fun. There aren’t many books I’ve read with my nephew and truly enjoyed reading as much as he.

Why I recommend "Winnie-the-Pooh (Pooh Original Edition)" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s a great story about having friends who are weird, but lovable. I adored this book when I was little, and I still do. Everyone should read it once, or read it to someone.
