excellently disturbing — 13 weeks ago
like Jude the Obscure (which i read concurrently with this poem), it is a beautiful peace of writing. the diction and syntax is aesthetically pleasing, especially read aloud.
then you pause and think about what each well-constructed line actually means, and it is all but hopeless, much like Jude the Obscure. it is almost as if the hopelessness and near-nihilism of the novel and the poem need some sort of attractive guise in order to gain any sort of readership.
