I don't want to admit it... — 3 years ago
...but I really liked this movie! It was cute, not as good as the original, but fun to watch and fun to listen to, with a soundtrack that equals the first one’s in an updated sort of way.
In this version, we see Jackie Dorsey, the daughter of Doug and Kate, trying to find her own way in the Olympic world. With a roller blading partner who can’t seem to figure out what he wants in life, she finds herself on the same track her parents were on years ago.
Personally, I really liked the casting for Doug and Kate. Granted, it wasn’t the original actors, Moira Kelly and DB Sweeny, but the similarities were good, and I could buy that they’d just aged. It was a cute love story, lots of foreplay wink with the dramatic ending, but it made me grin.
It did use a few too many plot twists from the first one and it seemed to drag on a bit, but overall, I liked this movie…if you’re expecting the quality of the Cutting Edge, it might not be for you…but if you’ve ever held a curiosity as to what the next chapter of the story held, give it a try!
