Why I recommend "Why Do Men Fall Asleep After Sex?: More Questions You'd Only Ask a Doctor After Your Third Whiskey Sour" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

As this is the second book in the series, a little bit of the novelty has worn off and many of the questions that Leyner and Goldberg are answering are less bizarre and less funny than in the previous book. However, the IM conversations and the introductions to each chapter of the book are hilarious and overall the book is funny and is good vacation or airplane reading. It kept me sane and amused while I was stuck in an airport for seven hours with no food.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Amazingly enough, this is not a terrible movie. I watched it with my nephew and found it rather enjoyable, despite being a sequel (to a sequel?) to a Disney movie. The “experiments” are pretty funny (and cute!) and the movie itself contains quite a bit of humor. If you are looking for a movie to watch with kids that have seen everything out there, try this.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I too cannot help comparing this version to the previous film version. I had read somewhere that this movie made Willy Wonka seem like Michael Jackson – i.e., creepy (no offense to the MJ fans out there-just quoting a review). And it’s true. Gene Wilder’s Wonka was whimsical but there was a touch of melancholy about him. And yes, the bratty kids got what was coming to them in the original… but as much as I love Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, Depp’s Wonka is creepy and this movie feels both flat and mean-spirited, as though Wonka has brought the kids to the factory for the purpose of mocking them and watching them turn themselves into bluberries and whatnot. Also many of the best scenes of the original have been re-envisioned in a way that dilutes their impact. The scene on the boat near the beginning was great in the original and dull in the remake, despite the fact that both utilized similar lines from Wonka and were trying to convey a sense of the strange and foreboding. And the ending drove me insane! Perhaps I am too old. My nephew, who is in third grade, thinks this movie is “so much better than the other one.” He also says that “The young people prefer the new Star Wars movies because they’re cooler.”

WORTH CONSUMING!

Such a hard, sad, tragic movie. I don’t know how closely this movie actually mirrored the life of Aileen Wuornos, but this is one of those movies that hurts to watch. Like Reqiuem for a Dream, it reminds you of the horrible things that happen to people and the horrible things that people do to get by.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This movie is pretty uninteresting and rather predictable. It also features some horrible acting.

Ditto to what the previous reviwer said. This is supposed to be amusing and is it ever! Worth watching in so many ways – especially to see Neill Patrick Harris as some sort of Nazi-like researcher!

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was familiar with the general story of the Israeli Olympic hostages, but I was not aware of the details. This film really gives a play-by-play and shows the tension surrounding the incident. The documentary made excellent use of footage from the era and interviews and narration from people involved in the incident. The music was indeed badly chosen and distracting.

Also irritating was the film’s tendency to linger on footage of the athletic events themselves, which distracted from the focal point of the movie and added unneccessary length.

Two things that shocked me in this film were the ineptitude – sorry, let’s make that the COMPLETE AND UTTER ineptitude – of the German response and the refusal of the Olympic committee to halt the Games immediately upon receiving news of the hostage-taking and the deaths. Truly unbelievalble…..

Such a sad story.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I am currently 7 minutes away from consuming Kraft SuperMac, which is supposed to be Kraft Macaroni and Cheese but healthier or something. Why in the world did I buy this? If I was going to eat something because it is a happy childhood food, why did I try to get a healthy version? I am ridiculous. Hopefully it is good.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I used to love this kind of stuff but now it makes me sick when I actually eat it at breakfast. Any other time of the day is fine, it just cannot be the first thing I consume in a day. Mmmm, greasy hash browns.
