A story about "The Da Vinci Code" — 5 years ago
Enjoyable, though not necessarily plausible. I devoured this book during a long transatlantic flight. It was certainly more entertaining than any of the in-flight movies!

I finished this book off in three sittings – I found it absorbing and entertaining. A fun, fantastical storyline, with an ending that had me turning the pages back to the begining.
The follow-up to Tony Parsons ‘Man and Boy’, ‘Man and Wife’ was a freebie with some women’s mag that I bought at the airport – otherwise I doubt I would have purchased it. It turned out to be a decent book. Depressing at times, but ultimately well written and strangely heartwarming.
Great stuff. True to the Inspector Rebus formula.
Written with Bryson’s usual humour, this book is both informative and entertaining.

I’m enjoying this book, but I don’t like the author very much. Sure, he’s done plenty of excellent reporting, and covered many major world events, and his tales both fascinating and entertaining. The problem is, he’s a smug bastard, and his condescending tone is grating. But then perhaps if I’d seen the collapse of the Berlin Wall, the release of Nelson Mandela, the fall of Ceaucescu, Tiannamen Square and the Gulf War from inside Bahgdad, I’d be a smug bastard too.
Not a fantastically well written autobiography, but nonetheless gives some interesting insight into the rise of McEnroe as a tennis superstar. Good light reading for a weekend, but not something I’d recommend unless you happen to be a die-hard tennis fan.
This book gets off to a slow start, but gradually drew me in, until I found myself thoroughly engaged in Cal’s story of self discovery as a hermaphrodite and human being.
What better way to fuel my enthusiasm for the Tour de France?
