A story about "ARTT 210 (University of Maryland)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The midterm has passed, and we haven’t had to defend or present any of our pieces to the rest of the class. While I’m continuing to do fairly straightforward drawings in class, my projects have become progressively odder – and, somehow, less satisfying. For my fourth project, I’m trying to develop some kind of written language of human form. I don’t think it is going to work out.

Okay Cheesedogs — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

These cheese dogs are fine – probably a bit better than the Oscar Meyer variety, but I don’t think they are as good as Nathan’s. I’ll give them another shot next week (I still have six left in the pack).

I just don't like getting haircuts — 3 years ago

Floyd’s is probably my favorite barbershop, with a sardonic take on the barbershop tradition. For $22 bucks (plus tip, of course) they aren’t the cheapest cut in College Park, but their offer of neck shaves and back massages, not to mention their internet access, make up for the price difference. Patricia, who I saw this afternoon, was better than my last barber, but I still think Wie gave me the best cut – and understood that I really wasn’t kidding when I said I knew nothing about haircuts.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I don’t really like the food for dinner, but I have been known to eat a McGriddle…

great phone for 14 year old Finnish girls with blogs about ponies — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Good phone with decent memory and camera (640×480 fixed focus). It is bluetooth compatable with windows, mac os x and most bluetooth devices, and supports the Opera web browser (although you have to exit all other programs to use it). It can play compressed .wav files as ring tones, which is quite nice. The included video recorder can record about 7 seconds of video at postage stamp resolution. The device has an odd, round keypad which makes playing most videogames for the Series 60 impossible, although it is easier to text with two thumbs than with a standard keypad, once you get over the brief learning curve. It also has a (very low powered) infrared, which has come in handy when I couldn’t find the TV remote.

A story about "Creative CB2455 Bluetooth Headset" — 3 years ago

Okay, so I bought the woot Two-for-Tuesday Creative bluetooth headset twopack. I still haven’t determined if it was a good idea or not. My Nokia 3650 paired fine with the thing, and I’ve already made a successful call with it – now I can drive and talk at the same time.

It was great timing, too, as Rob has just delivered some pimpage to the old 3650, which is really showing its age. A refacing – with a nice black keypad and red face – has really jazzed the thing up. It has really improved the relationship between me and the phone; I’ve even started initiating bluetooth data transfers with it again.

As a side effect of this, I have a spare, fairly unfashionable bluetooth headset to sell – this one’s twin. Perhaps I’ll see what they’re going for on the eBay…

Why I recommend "Boursin style cream cheese" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This tasty cream cheese spread contains garlic and herbs; it tastes great on a toasted sesame bagel.

A story about "'True Vegetable Garden' Juice" — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I grabbed this when it was on sale (2 for $5) at Whole Foods in Rockville. They also had $.75 coupons on their lids, so it seemed like a good deal. I prefer the stuff to V8, but I just am not a vegetable juice kind of guy. Perhaps with some tabasco and vodka…

A story about "Green Curry" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I had some good pork green curry Saturday from the Rockville, MD Tara Thai. It had these little green vegetables (fruits?) in it, quartered. At first I thought they were eggplant, but they didn’t taste like them, and had a sort of fig-like structure, or maybe even okra. I need to have a better understanding of southeast asian ingredients…
