Why I recommend "Marathoning for Mortals" — 13 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

If you loved Running For Mortals, you will love this book!

Once again, the authors inspire and teach the tools to prepare for the marathon not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.

By the end of the book, I was roaring and ready to get on with my marathon planning!

Highly recommended for all runners, even for those who aren’t considering the marathon at the moment.

I LOVE IT!!! — 14 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This has got to be the BEST book I’ve read on running in general thus far. It’s probably too wordy for the first book to read on running for a beginner, but for someone like me who’s read the basics already, this book is special in filling certain gaps that other books leave open, but the best part is the INSPIRATION it provides. I mean seriously, by the time I finished the book, I was scooby-doo’g out of the house for a run already.

This read is also a page turner! I could not stop once I got a few pages in.

This is s SUPER MUST READ for every runner, you will love it!

A review of "Galloway's Marathon FAQ: Over 100 of the Most Frequently Asked Questions" — 14 weeks ago

I am a huge fan of Jeff Galloway, so when I saw that he came out with this book, I of course had to get it ASAP.

The book’s title says it all; it’s not really something you read, but is more for a reference or a reminder about certain points in training for a marathon… After you read a book on marathon training.

I liked the book, but I don’t recommend it. It will probably sit on my bookshelf for awhile until I have a quick question about training, but then again, I’d probably think of other books first to answer my question.

Why I recommend "Duplicity" — 15 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A fun, fast-paced movie with a similar platform as the Ocean’s Eleven series, perfect if you just want to be entertained, although I was the tiniest bit dissatisfied with their surprise ending, although it maybe more because I got attached to the characters.

Good one to see (esp if you’re a fan of Julia Roberts), but not life-altering.

P.S. Paul Giamatti was fantastic, quite possibly the show stealer!

Why I recommend "Running Well" — 15 weeks ago

I think you’re supposed to read it cover to cover as a book, but it gets redundant if you’ve read other books on running already. If you have read books on running already, this will actually be a great handbook for you to locate to a forgotten fact quickly. As for new runners, this book actually serves as a colorful manual that covers essential topics of running.

I love the pictures and glossy pages!

What sets this book apart are the AWESOME charts in the back to quickly find what may possibly be wrong with you when you’re experiencing pain.

Why I recommend "Runner's World Guide to Cross-Training" — 16 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A plaguing injury and a desire to run faster, better and stronger is what prompted me to pick up this new read.

AWESOME BOOK FOR A RUNNER – especially if you’re curious about where your running could take you, like triathlons for example! (I have zero interest in competing in a triathlon but I am curious and this book gave me enough info about it to know something about it)

In this book are some exercises that could help prevent knee injuries along with workouts to help you run with better power, i.e. push off. In addition, it’s a fabulous resource if you’re suffering an injury but want to maintain fitness somehow (it lists different types of sports and how much of it would match the intensity of a run that you’d miss). It also talks about different types of stretching and the benefits of yoga!

Since I started reading this book, I religiously incorporated the bike and yoga into my workouts and have seen huge improvements.

This is a must-read for runners!

Why I recommend "Marathon: You Can Do It!" — 19 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

If you loved Jeff Galloway’s book on running, then you will love this book too. It pretty much picks up where it left off.

Informative, it provides physical and mental approaches, including creative strategies to turn off the left brain when it screams “I don’t feel like running!”

I was a tiny bit unsure about the marathon before, but he’s helped to break it into doable pieces that I can much more see myself cross the finish line!

The best book out there on running in general — 19 weeks ago

By the time I reached for this book, I’ve already had a few running books under my belt, but by the time I finished it, I felt that it was by far the best book out on running in general.

Not only does he cover most topics in running, but he also briefly covers the run-walk method that he is known to teach. Like most people, I cringed at the thought of taking walk breaks, but in addition to the population who are able to brag about PRs using this method, I do know a few people who accomplished this as well. I tried it and I’m sold! This is one of the best things about this book.

Other than that, this book is an easy, if not interesting read, including personal stories from his Olympic past as well as other Olympic greats!!!

Why I recommend "The Eat-Clean Diet: Fast Fat-Loss that lasts Forever!" — 29 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book teaches you more than just eating healthy; it teaches you how to rev up your metabolism! I like how she also covers how to battle temptations and what to do when ordering out.

I kicked many types of processed out of my diet about two months ago, however, this book filled in the missing gaps because I didn’t know much about exactly about whole foods and WHEN it’s best to eat in relation to metabolism and how to properly deliver certain nutrients into the body (i.e. carb + protein together). She basically EMPOWERED me with the tools to control my own menu without giving up any food groups. I can feel the difference already. In fact, I used this book to shed off my Thanksgiving weight within a week and I never even went hungry.

What I also love about the book is that it is such an easy read! Glossy pages, lots of colorful illustrations and written in a way that is easy that understandable and fun. It’s almost like she’s talking to me. She also asks pretty provocative questions that you end up asking yourself that act like an extra boost to get on that healthy horse.

I recommend this book for anyone who wants to learn how to eat well for the rest of their lives without compromising taste nor go on a DIET (contrary to the title, I know).
