Another Great Story by Holly Black, She did well with this sequal to TITHE. I also loved the way she tied in the characters from VALIANT.
Great story, Love the characters, and hope to read more about their adventures :)
It drags a bit and I can’t really get into the character or wrap my mind around the world structure, the basic plot is interesting enough, but somthing about the authors style doesnt sit well with me. . .
Once I FINALLY Finish this book, I dont think I will bother to read the other 2 in the series.
I cant compare it to the book because I havent gotten around to reading it yet, though it is in the que on my shelf. . . but I enjoyed th movie. .. it could have had a little more depth to the plot, but I thought the acting was decent, the dragon was wonderfully done, and over all the potential is there, I am hoping subsequent movies made form the sequal books will surpass this first intallment, but I found it interesting and entertaining to watch. It was good for a snowy monday night movie.
I just lost interest in it. . . the style of writing wasn’t stimulating enough form me and the characters just didnt keep me intrigued. . . I’m sure I’ll finish it someday, but for now there are other things that I would prefer to read.
So far it’s a good quick entertaining read, though I dont find the stories nearly so scary that I would want to sleep with the lights on. . . its a good change of pace for a short break between books, and Vande Velde’s writing is excellent as always in portrying her characters so they are very real. . . since she is writing about an area of New York state which has places that are familiar its noce to be able to picture the settings.
This was a quick read, i finished it in about 4 hours, mostly because I couldn’t put it down. . . its not a light subject matter. . . not for the faint of heart really. . . but Meridith is an amazing character. . . at this point, I admire her strength, and wish I had some of the same spirit. . .
definetly reccommend it.
Fast and Easy weeknight dish, very tasty and easy to tweak to your specific taste. . . MY version of the recipie follows:
Ingredients:
1 Box Stove top stuffing- chicken flavor (generic brand stuffing is ok too)
1 1/2 lbs- 2 lbs chicken breasts cut into small chunks (about 1 inch in size)
1 bag frozen broccoli florets (or substitute 2 fresh crowns cut to small florets) OR 1 bag mixed veggies
1/4 cup dices onions
1/3 cup of chopped chives
1 Cup Sour Cream
1/3 Cup of milk
1 can condensed cream of chick soup (you can substitute cream of mushroom or cream of broccoli)
2 cups shredded cheese ( I prefer mixed sharp & mild chedder, you could propably try your own favorite).
Seasonings (whatever you prefer)
13×9 inch casserole dish
-preheat oven to 400 degrees
-make stuffing per directions on package and set aside,
-cut chicken into small pieces and layer on bottom of dish with dices onion, chopped chives and broccoli (or vegtable of your choice.)
-sprinkle in seasonings of your choice (i prefer sage, garlic powder, black pepper and a small amout of basil)
-in sperate bowl mix sourcream, can of soup, and milk
-spoon over chicken and veggies, stir to mix and make sure everything is in a layer over entire bottom of pan
cover with shredded cheese
-spoon prepared stuffing over the top to cover evenly
Bake in 400 degree oven 35 minutes or until done (stuffing should be golen and slightly crispy, liquid should have some bubbling, check a pice of chicken to be sure its done all the way).
I thought this had interesting characters in it and some noce fantasy/mythology elements. It was decent “erotica” definetly not as “hardcore” as some there was more feeling and even some romantic notions throughout. Its almost comprised of short vingettes with recurring chacters and not a “true” novel, but I thought it was well worth reading and the shorter vingette style of the book made it a good choice for before bed or when you have only a short time to read. I’d reccomend it to people who like their erotica on the lighter side with more plot and story.
Not as scary as it could have been but the lighting effects definetly help make it creepy. . . it kept me engorssed for the whole 90 minutes. I think i would have enjoyed it more if I had been able to attend the actuall Horrorfest. . . maybe this year. . . but I digress. . .
This movie was interesting in concept, the kids were creepy. . . not explicitly gorey since the dark atmosphere of the movie hides much of that. . . i enjoyed it and am hoping to collect the other 7 “movies to die for”.
