I think Waitress is technically categorized as a chick flick, but I really think it goes beyond that. In the first few moments you are introduced to a cast of quirky waitresses, waiting on the results of Jenna’s pregnancy test. The news is bad, she is pregnant. Now she believes this will trap her in her unhappy marriage. Jenna (whose life’s ambition is to make pies) resolves to not tell her husband, and begins an affair with her OBGYN.

Waitress is a dead pan comedy that makes you laugh even in the more serious scenes. Everyone’s performances are wonderful (especially Keri Russell & Andy Griffith), except for arguably Jeremy Sistro. I think he is a good actor; I just couldn’t buy him as a “mean” husband. The movie has a sugary ending, but it’s so fun I’m willing to buy it. Plus the pies look so good they made me hungry. All in All I give this movie an A+.
