A story about "Godzilla" — 3 years ago

So, only really caught the end, but felt like i probably got a good sense of what was going on.

Yay for yellow cabs.

Otherwise, predictable and homage after homage plus flim cliches. Jaws twice (“We’re going to need a bigger [something]” and the whale song as Godzilla sinks), Hunt for Red October with the submarines. I’m sure there were more but i don’t watch that many movies.

A story about "Shards of Empire" — 3 years ago

I found the introduction scene terribly confusing—probably more an issue with me than with the writer. But as i was not terribly familiar with the point in history, the clues of which side was which and who was who and just what the battle was were a bit hazy. But betrayal! Got that! And from there on found the main character intriguing and worth following.

A story about "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Book 1)" — 3 years ago

I know we saw the movie, but i feel like i’d read the book before, too. Perhaps the movie was so loyal to the book that i found the scenes so familiar?

Anyhow, this was a book on the trade table at work that provided a nice light diversion on Saturday.

A story about "Unconquered Countries: Four Novellas" — 3 years ago

Checked out 2006-04-29 MVPL.
Quick notes so i can remember all four of the novellas:
A Fall of Angels—interesting entropy fighting conceit
Fan —VR pop icon
O Happy Day—parable of extermination camps, humanity
The Unconquered Country—the most poetic and powerful of the four, i think, war, refugee life

A story about "The Artist's Way at Work: Riding the Dragon" — 3 years ago

I committed to going through this twelve week program, starting 7 May, on April 30th. It’s been very useful to start the more disciplined practice of morning pages all over again. I’m doing them longhand this time. I still find the “time-outs” or “Artist Dates” challenging.

A story about "Imperial San Francisco: Urban Power, Earthly Ruin (California Studies in Critical Human Geography)" — 3 years ago

This is one of my slowly-read-over-months/years books.

A story about "Turn the Other Chick (Chicks in Chainmail)" — 3 years ago

I may, at some point, return to this collection of short stories. They were OK.

A story about "Franz Kafka's It's a Wonderful Life" — 3 years ago

Saw this short along with three others: Seven Gates, The Deal (written by Lewis Black), and Mr McAllister’s Cigarette Holder (one of a kind).

Why I gave up consuming "Campion - The Complete First Season" — 3 years ago

We watched Police at a Funeral yesterday afternoon (2006-04-16). I’m afraid we’re giving up on watching any more of these. It does appear one can now enter each “episode” into all consuming, so that’s done.

Why it's taking me forever to finish consuming "Star Trek Enterprise - The Complete Fourth Season" — 3 years ago

Watched eps 89-92 on Thursday & Friday night. Happily, this disk does NOT end with a cliff hanger. The T’Pol & Trip subplot continues to entertain. Not enough background on Reed’s involvement with whatever mysterious intelligence group that created such a conflict for him.

Interestingly, though, the lies of the Klingons’ to mysterious Harris regarding cooperation are echoed in Phlox’s lie regarding his work. And Harris presents a happy face at the end, although it could have all turned out terribly with the Klingons’ deception…. Ah, more politics. Pity that won’t develop….
