A story about "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" — 1 year ago
Re-watched this a couple days ago. It’s good timing, since I’m reading Ulysses, and both the book and the movie are loosely based on The Odyssey.

This book wasn’t as good as Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, but it still holds its own as a solid work of philosophy. It gives you plenty to think about in terms if defining quality and morals.
Chapter 6 is my favorite chapter so far. I liked reading how Bloom’s “friends” interact with him (doesn’t seem like they really like him), and hearing his thoughts during the funeral. It seemed so real, how his mind wanders instead of how we’d expect a fictional character to behave during a funeral (being all sad and emotional).
This is a dense novel. Chapter 3 is worth re-reading, it’s an amazing train of thought, but difficult to decipher.
I’ve been using study guides to help me figure out what’s going on. I’d recommend doing this if it’s your first time reading Ulysses.
This is a great book. It’s about how to cultivate a “growth mindset” and get out of the “fixed mindset” (thinking that your personal attributes are fixed, e.g. “I have a bad memory”)
The Faceplant is the signature drink at The Bull’s Tooth, the bar in the lodge at Stevens Pass.
Through a secret operative, I learned the ingrediants:
hot chocolate
white rum
peppermint schnapps
top with whipped cream
There is no better après piste drink in existance.
